Ladies and Gentlemen,
As some of you may have noticed, my activity has been limited in the past couple of months. I have less time available to commit to both eGO and DoD:S, and with that I would like to step down from my position as a Division Leader. I will still wear my =(eGO)= tag with pride, I just won’t be acting as a leader or a member of leadership for the division and eGO. I would also like to note that this is my decision, and that I am stepping down on my own accord.
Now for a little history, I joined eGO and the DoD:S Division back in February of 2011. At first I was just an e member who played on donner every couple of days. About two months later I joined Ventrilo for the first time and met a lot of people, some of whom are no longer around. We got the kalt server back, after argentan started to die off, and every day I would wait for Anni to post a Steam announcement to help him fill the map (back then I could barely ever kill him...) After a couple more months, in July of 2011, I was promoted to eG. I was very thrilled and excited, as I did not think I would ever become an admin. I got field promoted to eGO by jeod66 during an event around Halloween later that year.
About a year after joining eGO, I got the chance to lead a team for the 7th Realism Campaign. Even though it was a lot of work, it was one of the highlights of my time here in eGO. I had the pleasure of working with one of the best, if not the best, man for anything realism related, Skippy. On top of battling for Europe, the Campaign was also a personal battle for bragging rights, as one of my best friends, Sonicx, was on the command staff of the opposite team.
From being a CINC for Campaign 7, I was asked to fill in the role of Rotating TA for Campaign 8. There was a lot of preparation from all members involved, the command staff for each team, and the TA team before the start of the campaign on September 8th. The battle went smoothly, with no major rule infractions. The next day, September 9th, I was pulled into a leadership meeting by an angry-yelling-jeod. After about 20 minutes of him talking and the rest of the leadership team sitting there quietly, it has been revealed that I am in fact being promoted to the position of advisor. At first I could not believe it, my first reaction was literarily “Wait… what?” At first I was responsible for helping Annihilator with the DoD Rangers group, which was much stronger and effective back in the day. A couple weeks later I began my training as a demo reviewer under Blue Stealth’s oversight. When Blue stepped down a few months later, I took over as the leading (and only) demo reviewer for the division.
In early 2013 the DoD division got back into the competitive scene. The original team was made up of me, Blue Stealth, Anomaly, Derv, Dodgy, and Boyle as starters. The roster changed for each season but the core players stayed the same. The team was not the most successful in the history of competitive DoD, but nonetheless many great memories were made. Here I would like to thank all players involved in the Competitive Team for the last 4 seasons of TCN: Blue Stealth, Anomaly, Derv, Dodgy, Boyle, Bacon!, BeeF915, Suayngam, MoistTowelette, Anti, Bergen, Bruce Lee, Buster, Megs A Tagger, Rufio, Super^Eddy, Joe_The_Plumber, Annihilator, Dangle, Grail Arbor, Cushiony, Immortal Technique, kYuKi, Mini, Storable Coma, Predator Lark, Restricted, Dr. Compton, and theMasterChief805. Many of you have never played a league match, but your participation in the practice sessions and cheerleading is what made us a team.
There is a long list of people who made my stay in the community over the past 4 years memorable, some are no longer active. Here are just a few (in no particular order). Note, that there are simply too many people I met over the years to list everyone, so just because your name is not here, it does not mean I won’t remember you as a part of eGO during my years.
Blue Stealth – From training me as a demo reviewer, introducing me into the competitive scene, and entrusting me with your event, Realism, you shaped my list of duties as a member of leadership. I have always looked up to you as a leader and tried to follow the example you set.
Megs A Tagger – You guys have no idea how much work and effort Meg puts into the division and eGO. Thank you for your continuous dedication over all these years.
Annihilator – Anni has been in eGO longer than most would know, as he used to be a House Advisor back in the day. Just as Meg, his dedication to eGO and DoD is what will keep the division and the game alive.
Predator Lark and Q-tip – Some of my favorite recruits. As advisors these two work harder than most people would think. From playing on donner late at night to robbing banks in Payday, Preddy and QT pie are always up for some fun.
Sonicx11212 – Probably one of my closest friends over my years at eGO. Even though you went inactive a long time ago, we remained friends outside of the game. I will always remember all of our rivalries back in the day.
Anti and Rufio – These two seem to always be on their A game and be able to tear up the opposite team. Thanks for all the help and effort you both put into our Competitive team.
Zer0 – From tech help, in-game entertainment, to late night homework distraction, thank you I could always count on Zer0. Thank you.
Spartacus_Legolas and Skippy – The two who made me join eGO in the first place. I remember playing with both of them on donner back when I was a pub. Both were my role models throughout my time in eGO, either as a campaign CINC or an Admin Trainer.
Dodgy – Donny, Doniald, Ditler.
Now, because I am stepping down, it does not mean you will not see me in the servers anymore. I will still play from time to time and will still hang around in TS on some nights, but I will not hold any kind of responsibility within eGO. I believe the division will do fine without me, and I hope it can live on for a couple more years. An inactive DL is the last thing a division supporting a dying game needs.
Reading through this again, I see it somehow turned itself into a short essay, I don't think any of you would have expected that. This is a last thank you to all of eGO, especially the DoD division.
