Following is my proposed sub $2000 build. I do not need headset, keyboard, mouse. I have a 3TB external drive and may be installing my 1TB drive for storage. Therefore I chose to go with a 1TB SSD. as perhaps the only internal. I intend to order within two weeks. Please provide comments, suggestions, possible alternatives. I prefer to use newegg exclusively. Attached two ways (could not figure out a better way):

not really sure, I based this mostly on a $2000 build I found on a tech forum http://techbuyersguru.com/2000build.php. I use my computer for FPS gaming and word processing. My current computer I kept for 5 years, so this one must last for years as well.

If I can use a lesser supply, plz let me know. If I can save elsewhere I could upgrade to a 980gtx if necessary.
 
Both 970 and 980 have minimum power requirement of 500W. So if I were you I would go with 600-650 watt PSU. Also, I would suggest getting i5 since you wont see significant gain of performance of a i7. If you were doing video editing anything processor heavy, then I would suggest getting i7.

Not bad. However, when buying tower from vendor you are trading off your warranty. If anything goes wrong with your tower you better hope it happens within one year or you will be paying it with your own pocket.

Here are list of warranties for individual component. (They may vary)
CPU- 3 years
Mobo- 2- 3 years
PSU - 5 years
GFX - 2-3 years ( can be extended if buying from EVGA)
 
Couple of main differences:
1) Storage. Your build is a 1TB SSD; that is a 250GB SSD + 2 TB HDD. Their combination will be cheaper than what you're paying for the 1TB

2) PSU: You got an 850 watt vs their 600 watt PSU.

3) Different brands on the Case (Corsair vs Cooler Master) and RAM (Corsair vs G.Skill)

I would look at a 700 watt PSU, change the storage from a 1TB SSD to a 1 or 2TB HDD, use that as your storage drive, and use a 240-500 GB SSD as the OS drive. Probably can save $100 or more doing this one change, with another $20 or so with the PSU.

You can also save the $13 and use an existing drive from your current PC (assuming you have one). Save another $20 with a different Windows version. You can get either Windows 7 or 8.1 for $100, and with the free upgrade to Windows 10 later this year, doesn't make a huge difference IMO. The price difference is you're getting an OS CD that can install both the 32bit and 64 bit versions, which I doubt you need the 32bit for. Just go with the 64bit and save the $$$.

Cons
  • Using DVD makes alot of noice because the door shakes on the case when DVD driver is in use.

We used this in a friends build last week and I would recommend the case if you want to spend a little more on the case.
** NOTE: Gigabyte GTX 970 Inside
 
Hey, just a quick note from experience. I know a 27" monitor looks and sounds cool, but when I used them (an old roommate had one) I was a bit overwhelmed by it. I know this sounds weird, but it was just something I noticed when using it. I was much happier with a very solid Samsung 23" monitor.

Also, if you haven't yet, take a look at Antec or Rosewill for cases too. They are properly good.

For instance, I got the previous version of this case (in link below) and my heat dropped about 20 degrees over my old cooler master.
