Some Upgrades

So I am upgrading my computer for the first time. I was originally going to go with an Intel upgrade but then I decided to go with AMD because I am on a low budget. One of my main questions was should I go with an FX-8350 or an FX-8320? (P.S. I will be over clocking) Could you guys help me choose the right parts. I will also like this built to be silent. Thanks for the help!:thumbup:

Current specs:

CPU: Pentium 2120
GPU: 4GB GT 640
8GB of G.SKILL Ripjaws RAM (1066)
PSU: 575W (Unsure which one it is.)
Motherboard: Some gigabyte H series chip set motherboard


Upgrades:

Motherboard: MSI 970 Gaming AM3+
CPU: AMD FX-8350
GPU: Asus Direct CUII (getting 2 to run in crossfire)
SSD: Mushkin Enhanced ECO2 128GB (for OS)
PSU: Corsair RM750
Cooler: Corsair H100i
RAM: reusing my ram

I will also be using an NZXT Grid+ 2 to run my 6 fans at low rpms.

Running two graphics in crossfire will generate excess heat, also amd products know to run hot. So you can forget about running your rig on silent unless your are water cooling both GPUs.
 
sorry to be blunt, but if you are going for budget gpu you cannot expect get all the bells and whistles. amd is the way to go for budget gpu. noise wise I doubt you would hear them with your headphones on. Also how much are you spending on your gpu.
 
it depends on your budget . if you want a good and cheap card go for gtx960 it is 200$USD but if you want more performance get gtx970 (350$USD)
 
I am not willing to go over $230 for a GPU. Only if I think that I really want to go over the budget. The reason I want it to be quite is because I get a lot of complaints from my parents saying it is to loud.
 
If noise factor is big issue then go with nvidia then. But then again your definition of loud is relative to what?
 
I've had a great experience with Nvidia! Since money is an issue, I recommend saving up just a bit more at least a few more weeks. I have a GTX 970 and it runs great on any game out there. The problem with going for something cheaper, you'll end up having to replace it earlier because games are becoming more graphic intensive to the point where a decent graphics card becomes a minimum requirement. Just something to think about.
 
I do have a few questions/ things id like to add

1 What resolutions do you plan to game and how many monitors. Also what other things besides gaming do you intend to play. The crossfire / SLI isnt necessarily needed unless your doing particular things and can be an aera to save on.

2. What exact budged do you intend to play around with

3. You are aware that VIdeocards are the biggest and most important thing in the build. I saw you didn't want to go over a set price you may want to reconsider that depending on budget.

4 depending price ranges can vary between amd / nvidia. Is there a preference to company here that we should be aware of. You only mentioned crossfire which is an AMD only feature.

3. yes I am. I am just having a hard time finding the right one

4. prefer nvidia but I wanted to try going with amd this time. I might be able to get an nvidia card if I can fit it in the budget
 
what you could do for now is ditch the SSD till a later date and use the money you were to use and apply that to a better GPU. something to consider.
 
Important question do you already have a case your using and what bout hd i see ssd mentioned but no hd.


Few notes i noticed.

We could definately save money is the fan. a h212 evo from coolmaster would easily cool your processor and is about 60 dollars less. Another area is ditching the idea of crossfire. A single 960 Geforce may be the best option for price range with your budget.

Another area is the videocard. You dont really need 2 cards for 1080p and should be able to get a slightly better videocard single card to matain a 60 fps and save some potential money overall as well.

This above build has a few of the changes You could swap the motherboard back if theres any incompatibalities. It is a temporary work to show rough price range.
( 960 4 gig version you could shave 30 bucks getting the 2 gig there are pro and cons to this)
