Alright guys this is a Step-By-Step skinning Tutorial for Team Fortress 2
Step 1: These Are Some Free programs needed for skinning
GFCScape: http://nemesis.thewavelength.net/index.php?p=26
This is used for decoding the game files so they can be used.
VTFEdit: http://nemesis.thewavelength.net/index.php?p=41
This is used for turning VTF files into JPEGs
Step 2: Decide what you are going to make
Example: Put eGO on Scouts bat
Step 3: Get files
Sub-Step 1: Open GFCScape, Go to File and Open
Sub-Step 2: Go To Team Fortress 2 Materials, in Steammaps and click it
Sub-Step 3: Once in the File click TF, materials, models, weapons(player for class skins),then the desired weapon.
Sub-Step 4: Right Click file choose Extract, select desktop
WARNING!!!! Only use the folders with: V_ in front of them
WARNING 2!!! Only use the files VTF NOT VMT
Example: v_bat, v_bat.vtf
Step 4: Transfer to usable format
Sub-Step 1: Open VTFEdit and open file
Sub-Step 2: Go to File Then Export and save to desktop as a JPEG
Step 5: Edit
Sub-Step 1: Open up your editing program (Photoshop, Gimp, Paint)
Sub-Step 2: Open up your new JPEG file
Sub-Step 3: Edit the skin as desired.
Sub-Step 4: Save Edited JPEG to desktop
Example:
Step 6: Put into the game
Sub-Step 1: Open VTFEdit and Select Import and Open your edited JPEG from the Desktop
Sub-Step 2: Open file and choose, Save As
Sub-Step 3: Save in C:/Program Files\Steam\steammaps\(username)\Team Fortress 2\tf\materials\models\weapons(this change to player for character skins)\*Create folder and put file in that
