wewo's quote of the month: Unity is strength... when there is teamwork and collaboration, wonderful things can be achieved.
Mattie Stepanek (courtesy of www.brainyquote.com)

As I was uploading Ric's artwork for this month's newsletter I thought about teamwork. The Newsletter Team has lost more than a few good people over the years, and right now the team is small. I had no one to write the Battlefield and DoD articles this month and no artist. I figured I would just have to do them on my own. Then I realized I had a second team to rely on, the rest of eGO. So I asked Dr. Compton to write a DoD article as a guest writer, and he agreed, delivering a well-written article in record time. Since I'm a team player, I wrote a Battlefield article that I hope you like, but I couldn't have done it without the help of jtipton. Since I can't even draw a stick figure, I still needed help with art. Then Ric, a former Newsletter Team member, jumped in to create this month's artwork. Of course, the Newsletter Team members also chipped in with writing and editing, especially whoflungpoo and SigmaTaurus. This Newsletter would have not been published without phenomenal teamwork from the eGO community. For that I am thankful.

Oh God, I'm boiling at my chair.

Temperatures are rising like Hell. Literally. Be mindful that as your inner organs slowly melt, your PC components suffer the same fate. Consider that your cooling system is expected to work under several conditions, but that condition list does not include: "Summer so hot you'd like to drown yourself in beer."

Adding one or two alternatives to your regular gear will greatly improve the quality of your gaming and the resistance of your components, especially with GTA: V and Witcher 3 lurking around. This writer has (sorry for the palm behind the head) a GTX 980 with a liquid cooling system for my Core i7 last gen processor and still my computer crashes if I go all Ultra at 3:00 pm on a hot Saturday. I had to add additional large cooling fans as a counter measure for the heat, and it barely works. I'm no expert, of course, and if you guys need more and safer suggestions please go to the Tech Support forum and ask our guys at TechyLand.

Moving on to other topics!

Have you guys ever played Styx: Master of Shadows? If not, you totally must. This game evolves the concept of stealth missions. This week the game will be 66% off, which is a great deal. This game is so well elaborated and provides many hours of great game play.

In case you are a hardcore fan of Game of Thrones, and you haven't had the chance to try The Witcher series, you are missing a world of fantasy and brutality only suited for mature gamers. The previous titles are also on discount. What is it about Witcher that is sooooooo good? First of all, the game is based on published books of a Polish writer named Andrzej Sapkowski, and the books are really cool. The game not only involves mystical problems, but it delves into social issues such as racial and sexual discrimination, class confrontations, politics and the ever constant ability of human kind to mess up everything they don't understand. Totally worth your while, both the books and the games.

Mind the heat, boys

Love is a Battlefield. Anyone who has been married for more than a year would likely agree with Pat Benatar. Most gamers think of Battlefield (the FPS game), which until recently, involved game-play on a simulated battlefield during war time. All that has changed with Battlefield Hardline. The Battlefield is now the streets (or dirt roads) of a city or town near you. Released in March of 2015, Battlefield Hardline is essentially a cops and robbers game. However, EA upped the ante with several different game modes. In addition to the expected Conquest, Team Deathmatch, and rescue the hostage modes and several variations thereon, there is a heist mode (armored car robbery), and perhaps the most intriguing, Hotwire.

Hotwire involves police attempting to repossess cars stolen by the robbers. The insanely fun part comes when one player drives the car and his buddies literally ride shotgun, shooting it out on the move. In fact, eGO’s only remaining Hardline server is a Hotwire server. The IP is 74.91.126.251:25200.

Despite being recently released, EA has already announced an expansion pack called Criminal Activity. It will feature, among other things, new masks and helmets that provide additional xp. Hmmm, kinda sorta sounds like EA borrowed an idea from TF2, replacing hats with masks/helmets.

While props to EA for thinking outside the box, have they gone too far? While some people enjoy the game, the complaints seem to be that it simply does not “feel” like Battlefield or isn’t as good as BF4. Our resident BF Advisor, jtipton, agrees with this assessment: “Hardline just isn't really a Battlefield type of game, in that it doesn't feel like Battlefield.”. Certainly members in the Battlefield Division must also have misgivings about Hardline. The BF Division already dropped one server, leaving the ailing Hotwire server as its only one. The outlook appears bleak for Hardline having much of a future in eGO. Better luck next time EA.

by Dr. Compton (very special guest writer)

The Original (and greatest) Division of eGO is going as strong as it was when JohnT and Company founded the best gaming community nearly nine years ago with our Avalanche server (now back in the number one spot, where it belongs0. Every night our Leadership is hanging out in our TeamSpeak 3 Channels helping the members fill our servers for at least two hours, we'd love for anyone to join us!

Recently, Advisor Predator Lark and Member Dodgy restarted the Comp team for DoDS. Following tryouts we have the best of the best representing EdgeGamers in the DoDS Competitive Community. The members of the Comp Team are: Predator Lark (Captain, representing New York), Dodgy (Captain. representing California), Mulvad (representing Denmark), Kyuki (representing North Carolina), Ironpenguin12 (representing Virginia), TheMasterCheif (representing Canada), Boyle (The "Prone King", representing Florida), LittleBEER (representing Pennsylvania), Dr.Compton (representing Texas), BearKiller (representing Colorado) , MrNicoll (representing Scotland), Immortal Technique (representing Canada), Superglue (also representing Canada), and High Inquisitor Nond (representing the Land of Bubbles). Not on the team, but there to help us out whenever we need them to help us practice are Zero and Q-Tip. They were gracious enough to volunteer even before tryouts, realizing that we would need people to shoot at!

Our Avalanche server had been dethroned from the number one spot in the month of April, but in the Month of May, instead of rolling over and accepting that it had fallen to the number three spot, we pushed forward and put Avalanche back in its proper place, the number one DoDS server in the World!

School is out and summer is strolling along as yet another edition of the monthly EdgeGamers Newsletter arrives! This month, I'll be covering the Op: X division and its leadership's major plans for the division as well as the community as a whole.

New Division?

That's right! Garry's Mod has finally become its own division separate from Op: X! With the successful turnout of the Trouble in Terrorist Town and Prop Hunt servers, it came time for Garry's Mod to become its own division. During its Op: X days, Drew-X led the Garry's Mod subdivision as its personal advisor and managed to bring the Trouble in Terrorist Town server to life, bringing in many new players as well as eGO veterans from around the world to team up against the traitors who terrorize Terrorist Town.

Future Game

Now that Garry's Mod is its own division, the Op: X division has a slot for a new game to test. DigitalDJ, community manager, needs your help voting on the next game to join Operation: eXperimental. Head on over to this thread to cast your ideas! Current ideas include Smite and Killing Floor 2, but there are so many games on the market to choose from, the possibilities are nearly endless.

Smite

Smite, a third person free-to-play MOBA, now has an official eGO clan. Check out DJ's thread on how to join the clan and dominate alongside your fellow eGO'ers.

That about wraps it up for this month folks. Be sure to look out for next month's edition of the eGO Newsletter where I will probably be writing about the CS Division [Managing Editor's note: not this time:p]. Anyways, thanks for reading and have a fantastic summer!

Few Divisions in EdgeGamers have so many alternatives for a good playtime and fun, and we love it.

I've always respected the broad diversity TF2 has to offer the gaming world, but this is on a whole new level. It's unavoidable that at some point your games will start to look dull or simply no longer impress you, especially if they are (or in this case, recently became) free to play. You know they will be around, and probably later you'll use them again, maybe.

But the Leadership of TF2 will not allow you to succumb to boredom and decided against all odds to keep improving TF2 players'/members' experiences by adding some wacky stuff.

Da' heck is all that? It's a mod, of course, with hilarious content. Inspiring the masses to never stop playing 'The Hat Game 2', of course. Of course!

Also, the TF2 Division is brewing a program just for the very best guys ever. Something about a VIP program, but right now these dudes are kinda keeping the information to themselves. Don't worry, we'll keep asking.

Don't forget to go and have a good time (and a laugh, probably) at Karaoke Nights. More info about karaoke is available on the TF2 Forum.

Read ya' later
SigmaTaurus.
