FPS Problems

Well in Garry's mod, I am getting 12-25 frames, and in CS:GO I'm only getting 40-60, idk why. It's just been happening recently.


PC Specs:
Windows 8.1 64-bit
CPU AMD FX(tm)-4130 Quad-Core Processor 4.09 GHz,
My processor is overclocked not by much though it's original GHz was 3.8.
GPU GeForce GTX 660 Ti
RAM Ripjaws X 4gb(x2)
Motherboard msi 970A-G46

So, you only have 4 GB of RAM in your system? Or is that 2x sticks of 4 GB each for a total of 8 GB? Have you checked the graphics settings in Garry's Mod?

It's 2 sticks of 4gb, I messed with the settings it runs terrible on low. I have used some custom cfgs those don't work, and I run bf4 and 3 fine on medium to high settings.

- What type of maps do you play on? Any with a-lot of props or where you can spawn a-lot?

- What monitor do you have/use?

- Do you run anything else in the background while playing?

I play on maps without any props for reference, flatgrass i will get 20 fps, then if I'm on evocity I get 15. I run teamspeak in the background but I've shut that off and tried to play no difference.

I have a ASUS VS247 Monitor, and I have a secondary old dell one. but I've unplugged the second same fps in gmod. Oh and I run battlefield 4 and 3 on medium/high perfectly 60-80 fps.

Do you only get low fps in Gmod or all source games? If all source it could be to do with DirectX

Also, think back to when you got good fps in gmod, did you do any gpu driver updates? If so try revert them and test it.

Maybe it's worth deleting anything you've changed with gmod such as cfgs or reinstalling it clean and see if that helps?

Do you have vsync on ingame or nvidia configuration panel?
Have you installed Nvidia game experience? If so did you turn on "optimal game settings" ?

Also check any recent downloads you have done that idle in backgrounds and try removing them just to test.

I only get low FPS in Gmod, and CS:GO. My Nvidia control panel has everything on low, Vsync is turned off. I have reinstalled gmod multiple times.

I did update my GPU drivers a couple days ago, but that was after I started getting bad FPS.

I would say try updating your DirectX 9 and if you need help you could look here.

I'm updating DirectX, if I notice better FPS I will let ya'll know.
