DVD-drive/cd reading problem

Hey, so this problem has been going on for quite a while and no one has ever really figured it out.
Some cds that I put it simply don't read. Sometimes they'll load up about an hour later if I leave them in there but it will read them so slow that I cannot install the games on them!
Please help me out here, I've had DoDS for a while now but can't play it because the very first CD wont load :X

Sounds like the drive is dying. Wouldn't be the first one in my experience, they've a few mechanical components that wear.

They're also very very cheap to replace. Do you have need to burn DVDs or do you just need a reader?

i have never used it to burn a cd

Most 20 or under. Honestly, brand makes very little difference for readers.
