For those of whom remember the PS3 game "Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars (SARPBC)", or "Battle Cars" for short, and loved it -

You've got something else comin.

Rocket League, like Battle Cars, is made by Psyonix, and has the same gameplay as Battle Cars, but with other various changes, such as:

  • Major visual upgrade
  • Single-player Season mode
  • Car customization
  • Online and Local Splitscreen Multiplayer
  • Unlockable Vehicles, Arenas, and Customization Items
  • Dedicated gameplay servers
  • Broadcast-quality replay editor
  • Regular updates and content/ feature drops
  • Much, much more!

Over the past several years, Rocket League has been under alpha/beta testing for both PC and, more recently, PS4.

Now, however, the testing is done..and the 'WHAT IS THE RELEASE DATE!?' hype-excitement is finally over..and so is the price guessing.

That is correct - Release Date and Price for both PC & PS4 are set:

July 7, 2015 for $19.99!

What is Rocket League?

For those who do not know what Rocket League is -

Rocket League is the successor to "Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars (SARPBC)", or "Battle Cars" for short.

It is a soccer sport-themed game where you have a number of [strike]unlockable[/strike] rocket-powered vehicles that can be at your disposal, making it a very intense, explosive, high-octane game.

The main objective, as you may have guessed, is to score goals with a rather large soccer ball..in a large arena..against another team, who may not be so friendly as the sport you may be use to seeing. For example: One of your opponents' rocket-cars could end up in front of you one second, the next it's in tiny little pieces where you just were a second ago, or end up getting rocketed off to the other side of the map.

There are no rules..there are no limits..except maybe a match time limit.

Load up the rockets and gasoline tanks... as this game is one you won't want to miss.

Be sure to checkout the main Rocket League website here, and if you are planning on going to E3 this year - expect to see them there as well.

Seen it already on youtube; Ohmwrecker and CriousGamers played it for around an hour. Looked like a lot of fun in a group setting.

Group is definitely fun, although there is still fun to be had if you're just playing with other players. (This coming from personal experience as I had played it during alpha/beta) ;)

By the way, here is the link to the Steam store page of the game. It won't let you buy it yet, but just for when it does release, or if you want to see additional screenshots, the Release trailer, or the system requirements that Steam posts for it:

Roughly 1 day 13 hours till Rocket League is released on Steam! (Check the post above for the link to the Store Page. There isn't a pre-purchase yet, and price doesn't show (for reasons unknown), but as mentioned they announced it'll be $19.99)

With that, here's a video by/of IGN with Jeremy Dunham, Marketing Director of Psyonix, the company that made Rocket League.

In it they show various things that were being talked about for release as well as what it looked like during the PS4 beta in May, including Customizable controls, some of the gameplay itself, a tutorial 'game-mode' that can be tried out...a Competitive-style mode as well, for those interested, and a few other things
