Battlefield 4 Clarification needed regarding rules on helicopters

There was a bit of a kerfuffle earlier on the 24/7 Shanghai server over the attack chopper, thought it could use some clarification from the leadership for future disputes.

The situation was a pilot wouldn't fly because the gunner wasn't his friend he was flying with. Random gunner started shooting the ground damaging the chopper because the pilot wouldn't take off. Random gunner was said to be team griefing.

So, do pilots get choice of gunner on eGO servers?
 
Short version to your question: No, Players (and members) can't force only specific players to be in their vehicle, or force others out.

Squadmates/friends can join each other in vehicles, sure, but they can't be forceful about it like I mentioned above, which from what I'm understanding is what happened.

Firehazard is correct players cannot hold spots on vehicles for their friends as this is considered griefing. Also destroying the vehicle or crashing it is griefing as well. Vehicles are first come first serve. Some will join private squads or only on squad mates to join in on the chopper or vehicles. If someone doesnt want to fly with another then they just will have to wait their turn and let someone else take the chopper. Placing C4 or explosives on a chopper is forbidden as well and is considered griefing.
 
I deal with this on the reg. Many times I will get gunner and they won't fly me. I warn them and wait a minute then kick. Holding a major vehicle hostage is team griefing as well.

Keep in mind though that some players may not be familiar with how flying in the game works, or they do know of it but don't fly very well, and are hesitant to do so, so they prefer gunner-seat (and vice-versa with people preferring pilot-seat). I've been that way for a bit before I started trying it on BC2 and either on the BF4 training thing that has all the vehicles or on one of our servers when it was in the process of being filled..I still suck compared to most that fly now but eh. :P

Not saying that's what's happening in your situation, but just a heads up. ;)
 
I realize that. The dead give away is when they say 'get out' or there buddy is standing right there shooting at the cockpit.
 
This is a great post, I was just thinking about this topic yesterday so I'm glad I saw this. Now that this is settled when are we gonna ban stinger/igla in the server ehh?? :biggrin::biggrin::biggrin:
 
nope how else is anyone gonna shoot down repr? I cry for my sraw and Im sure he rejoices :D
