I've never told anyone how I started taking these pictures and I can't start now. I can tell you this though its not a very expensive one, and it shouldn't take you long to figure out after playing with a few. I guess you could say these pictures didn't really get taken because of the camera it was more me always being on the hunt. It's a you gotta be at the right place right time thing. Most of the time I was just walking home from work or having a beer at the bar. There's a small window you have to go out during and there's 2 factors that always increase your chances: Rain and angle, if its raining or just quit raining and its about to sunset head out the door, also if the image sucks move somewhere else you'd be surprised how much things change. I've driven in my car and also pedal'd the crap out of my bike to try and find that one good angle, but rain is also important.
Sometimes it catches you off guard and you have to scramble like the picture with the train you'll see, that train passed behind John's Main Event in Burlington Wisconsin one of my favorite bars in that town. I had to smash down a flight of stairs across a parking lot and jump into position but it was worth it. I also try and find new ways to "market" stuff like recently I started a Good Morning Colorado Series after I was up at 5 am and decided to hit the bike and see what happened.
