Software Engineer here too. I don't avoid your kind at all, your kind is part of the process to roll out quality software. I bite my keyboard when bugs that should be caught make their way into the release build. Both because the programmer's mistake and the failure to catch it.

Same here, mr. wicksied. Right now I'm the ONLY tester we have... I do my best, but I'm only one man Fortunately, most of the bugs that do slip by me are the ones where the user has to double-right click with the left hand while standing on their head and drinking a glass of soda while singing the national anthem!
But seriously... I love developers. I do my best to keep them happy (usually with all kinds of sugary treats), because without them I don't have a job!

Thanks. For some reason, it helps my little brain to know things like this. It's pretty cool to see the variety of places and experiences people come from. I figured there would be a lot of computer type fields represented, but soldiers and police officers as well? Too cool!
I also had no idea that the eigth grade would be so well represented, teachers and students. Odd, because I teach 8th grade Sunday School.
Also, I was wondering if any other TF2 occupations were represented? Any doctors in the house?

I am a student at the University of Arizona studying criminal justice administration. I work at the [link=http://phoenix.lpl.arizona.edu]Phoenix Mars Mission[/link] as the web developer. I graduate in May and in June I will be attending the Tucson Police Department academy.

I've been a software engineer for about 11 years now. Last year, I started my own company to do niche software for Medical Imaging (processing CT and MRI scans, planning for cancer treatment, etc.).
Oh, and good software testers are worth their weight in gold. I wish I could find a good one to hire. I used to cringe whenever bugs were found in my code. I'm now mature enough to love it so that I can fix bugs before they're released.

I have kind of avoided raytheons events on campus because i spent 5 years in the military and held a TS clearance. So, Im not aiming for the same intern/entry level jobs that most graduates would be happy to get. Im counting on my experience to get me a job not my degree. I personally dont feel I should be in the same hiring pool as grads with 0 experience which is why I havent really done much when they came to campus.
But....the lady at career services said I should make as many contacts as I can because they can just refer me to the proper people, and put in a good word after seeing my resume, etc.

I just started as the web developer for the University of South Carolina. They are ready to go web 2.0 and over the next months we'll be redoing their entire static catalog. I'm mostly doing back-end stuff at the moment so the website is still stuck in 1998. That will be changing soon. .
I program mainly in Ruby using Ruby on Rails if anyone was curious. Great framework. Loving it.

I'm a student at the University of Wyoming, studying english and pre-med stuff. Also, i'm a nationally certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), but i'm currently unemployed. waiting for this summer when i move back to my home town where there are tons of places to be a medic.
My real life goal is to play football (soccer) in Europe, preferably the English Premiership. make fun of me all you want, but i know i can make it!

War. Its crazy how many people there are in the military here
I find odd is that there are supposed to be "rules" for something as chaotic as "war". See:

As for me, I'm just the average guy in highschool, bit on the computers side, etc. Couldn't pick me out of a lineup of other eGO gamers. !mistrust

Currently a Manager in Training at my local McDonald's... I graduated last year but unfortunately couldn't afford school. luckily though I found out that after being a manager for six months my job will pay 90% of any school spendings up to $5250 hooray 40 hr/week 9pm-5am!!! !mistrust
