EGO should not support mature rated games and enforce langauge rules at the same time

If enforce language rules and allow support for mature games at the same time, they are contradicting themselves at a moral level. At a rules level, they are not doing anything wrong, but in most arguments using any kind of logical standard, rules do not some how over rule ethical rational. For instance, someone can not just create arbitrary rules and say its wrong to disrupt them. A person who creates such an argument must prove their rules aid a social contract theory premise. But Ego does not do this. Ego supports violent games while disallowing language, a contradiction which cannot be resolved. Thus, I must state that ego is an immoral organization at this point, and must change their standards if they wish to be moral. I hope I do not seem like a troll and instead help expand your mind. I currently work at a university and enjoy games, and only wish for an organization that does not have a contradictory policy that creates an immoral standard. Thank you... :)

Hey Goschie, maybe i can help you out with this.

While eGO does support games like GTA V, which does have violence, and other things, eGO tries to keep servers on games like TF2, GMod, and CS:GO family friendly by using the no language rule. On GTA, there are not privately owned servers to enforce rules, they are all run by Rockstar Games, so we cannot admin them.

Hope this helped you.

I'm trying to figure out exactly where you are getting that we are a moral gaming community? We are a punk free gaming community. We have rules so that everyone can enjoy the game without having to cuss like a sailor in them and disrupting the server. Yes, we have rated M games that a lot of people love playing so we enforce the language rule in chat in game, in TS however, we have rated R rooms for that where cussing is allowed. Adults let their children play on these games also and try to make it fun for them. Who wants to play on a server when you see and hear obscene cuss words on your screen all the time (I personally don't).

I'm just a member like yourself, but I think this community is just fine the way it is. Good luck finding a community that fits your standards.

We do allow fool langauge in our servers in games like battlefield, just because the game itself got bad langauge.
What we DONT allow is that people use fool langauge against other players ( disrespectfull )
What Summer said above ''a punk free community''
Just go and check out other servers in games like dod, where they do allow bad langauge.
The only thing I see in those servers are:
People cursing all the time... which makes someone angry....1 of them start a fight.... everyone jumps in... chat or mic gets spammed... people leave servers out frustration...
People just start fights, because they can in those servers.
Besides that, we don't encourage disrepectfull behaviour against the people that are playing on our servers which are trying to have a good time playing the game.
with cursing you don't solve problems. you just create nothing but trouble.

It's quite simple really.

Yes, we support M rated games, however the "community" that follows with those "M" rated games are usually children or trolls that like to disrespect other players, swear up and down, or disrupt the entire server because they're blowing up chat having a rage fit. We do not tolerate this type of behavior. The idea started back when eGO decided to become a "family-friendly" gaming community. There were members who literally had their entire family playing with them, including their children. Leadership decided as a whole to enforce a no-swearing policy to prevent those children from getting exposed to adult behavior.

Of course we've made some exceptions for certain games such as Battlefield just a couple years ago, and it's transitioned more-so into the fact that the majority of active eGO members are adults. Mature adults do not like playing with immature people that like to blow up chat and disrespect other players because they can't handle losing on a game.

Moral/immoral has nothing to do with it. This is how eGO has been ever since the beginning, and it's not going to change now. One of the main reasons I joined eGO 6 years ago was because they enforced these sort of rules. Guests that don't like it can play elsewhere.

It comes down to this.

I have no problem with my kid playing shooter games. I did when I was very young, and I have no issue with that, however, I do have an issue with my child hearing another 12-whatever year old kid saying things that they would never even dare mention in front of their mother, or a nun.

I'm 24, and would never intentionally say even HALF the things I hear on all other servers in front of my mother. That, is where the mature aspect to our community comes from.

I'm not gonna lie, I had to read this a few times in order to try to understand it. And, while I do think you're gaslighting here, I don't mind telling you why our rules are valid. I have to do it many a time when I go on other servers with the eGO tag.

Firstly, let's look at some of the games we support: Counter-Strike, Day of Defeat, Garry's Mod, Minecraft, and Team Fortress 2. Notice that, while these games are rated M for Mature, they are classified for "Blood and Intense Violence". The language we admin against is not prevalent in any part of those games. Sure, one can say "they're for adults, so kids aren't here", and they'd be right, the games are for adults. The problem is, children do play them. As a result, we've created this mature, punk-free gaming community and have kept it strong for nine years. Nine.

If we're such an immoral, unethical organization with arbitrary rules, we wouldn't have been here for nine years.

Now, in Battlefield 4, the ESRB did classify it as having strong language, which is prevalent in the game. Our language rules work differently there. If you're using language as in "f***, I need ammo", that is allowed, since words like that are common in the game itself. But, if you were to use "f*** you", that's disrespectful and breaks our rules.

If enforce language rules and allow support for mature games at the same time, they are contradicting themselves at a moral level.

This has nothing to do with morals. In fact, you're very moral if you don't feel the need to show how colorful your vocabulary is while playing a video game.

At a rules level, they are not doing anything wrong

As in our rules, or some other set of rules? If you're talking about our rules, yes, they are breaking them. We have private servers, we have the right to set those rules.

but in most arguments using any kind of logical standard, rules do not some how over rule ethical rational.

It's both ethical and rational to follow the rules set by a private organization if you're somehow involved with them or using their resources. I'd like you to explain to me how it isn't.

For instance, someone can not just create arbitrary rules and say its wrong to disrupt them.

Yes, we can. Go up a bit.

A person who creates such an argument must prove their rules aid a social contract theory premise

A "social contract theory" is defined as "the view that persons' moral and/or political obligations are dependent upon a contract or agreement among them to form the society in which they live". I really don't know how this applies.

But Ego does not do this. Ego supports violent games while disallowing language, a contradiction which cannot be resolved.

Yes, it can. Go up and read my first paragraph.

Thus, I must state that ego is an immoral organization at this point, and must change their standards if they wish to be moral.

I'm going out on a limb to say that English isn't your first language, which is fine. I think you may mean "ethical" or "logical". An "immoral" organization would be Gawker or PETA. I can assure you, however, we are quite ethical and logical.

and only wish for an organization that does not have a contradictory policy that creates an immoral standard

I'm swapping out "immoral" for "illogical", since I believe that's what you meant. I believe it is quite illogical to tell a private organization they can't have rules for the public using things they own. We are well within our right to have rules and enforce them on servers we pay money for, however contradictory they may appear to some. I've explained why they are logically and morally sound earlier in this post.

Have a good day.

Bam.

Our rules are put in place, if you're mature you choose to follow them or not. That's up to you. Other then that like Dr. stated I assume you meant illogical and not immoral. But hey, makes perfect sense to me.
