Hey everyone,

Would anyone happen to have an old Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit key laying around? Microsoft is being stupid and wont let me activate my current install since I reinstalled it too many times.

My main thing is I want to upgrade to windows 10 but currently cannot until this license key issue is fixed.

If you have activated your own key too many times, you can call Microsoft support and use their automated voice system to re-activate your key again. I don't think anyone is going to give your their own key and we do not support trade of illegitimate keys/software in eGO.

Activate using the telephone

Here are the instructions

Activate using the telephone

If Windows isn't able to activate online, you'll have the option to activate Windows 7 using an automated phone system.

Open Windows Activation by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, right-clicking Computer, clicking Properties, and then clicking Activate Windows now.*

Click Show me other ways to activate.

Type your Windows 7 product key, and then click Next.

Click Use the automated phone system. Administrator permission required If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

Click the location nearest you from the drop-down list, and then click Next.

Call one of the available phone numbers listed. An automated system will guide you through the activation process.

When prompted, enter the installation ID that's listed on your screen into your phone's keypad.

Write down the confirmation ID that the phone system gives you.

Type the confirmation ID into the space provided under Step 3 in the activation dialog, click Next, and then follow the instructions.

If activation isn't successful, stay on the line to be transferred to a customer service representative who can assist you.

Hey Ice, if it was that easy I would have done it already. I have tried calling them numerous times and talked to different reps and they are refusing to allow me to reactivate my key. I understand trading off keys is frowned upon but considering windows 7 is now 2 gens behind, I doubt anyone really cares.

If its a big deal, just delete the thread then.

Im surprised the telephone method did not work. I have to do that for our clients all the time.

Normally it does but for someone reason they just wont budge. I just don't get it. And its not like I can just go buy another key, windows 7 64 bit ultimate is impossible to find in stores now a days.

The only reason why the telephone method wouldn't work to reactivate is if the key is locked, meaning the key was from a TechNET or MSDNAA account. Those keys do have only a few cycles on them. Do you have the machine wiped and are reinstalling Win 7 U, or have an image of the machine around?

I think it was because it was a TechNET key if im not mistaken.

I ended up just buying a windows 8.1 key for $31 on G2A and used that to get the upgrade key. Then I just pulled the key from the windows 10 upgrade installation and reinstalled a fresh round of win 10.

So far so good except for the fact the first time around the lowercase "s" would not work for some dumbfounded reason. Thank you razer synapse software <.<

Thats a bummer you had to upgrade man. Some key distributors will let you purchase a win 8 key and then you can ask them to downgrade it to a win7 key. Hope the win10 upgrade works out well besides the whole razer issue (this is a common issue right now for win10 users).

Thanks for the help everyone, and it really wasnt to big of a deal to spend $30 basically to remove that annoying Activate Windows Now! popup lol.
