Tech Help Windows 10 botched upgrade

So I upgraded from windows 7 to 10 and I'm not entirely sure what happened. First day was fine until I downloaded a patch and from there my system just went down hill. Tried a system restore and I had no restore pointa even though I made one the previous night...tried a clean install and kept getting errors so I tried to just completely wipe my hdd with Deriks boot and nuke and that didn't work. After a while of trying to fix it I ran into an error and my pc just kept loop restarting on boot. Error I kept getting was BAD_SYSTEM_CONFIG_INFO. I'm saving up right now to get a new hdd and probably an ssd on top of that on Wednesday but just want to see if anyone else has ran into similar issues with windows 10 yet.

The bug check you're getting is 0x74 AKA BAD_SYSTEM_CONFIG_INFO. This means registry errors are present. Whether or not your wipes were successful is another issue.

The BAD_SYSTEM_CONFIG_INFO bug check occurs if the SYSTEM hive is corrupt. However, this corruption is unlikely, because the boot loader, known as NT Loader (NTLDR) in versions of Windows checks a hive for corruption when it loads the hive.

This bug check can also occur if some critical registry keys and values are missing. Thee keys and values might be missing if a user manually edited the registry or if a wipe failed and a new OS was installed on top of the remaining old OS.

I backed up my data and upgraded to 10 before determining that 10 was not compatible with anything I own for some reason. I quickly went back to my home, Windows 7.

My upgrade went smoothly from Windows 8 to 10. In fact, it seems to have resolved more problems than create them. The only problem I had was that I had to reinstall a WiFi driver to connect to 5 GHz networks which stopped showing up after upgrading. I also haven't encountered any bugs yet. (But poor Cortana isn't available in Canada. QQ)

Just upgraded to 10 from 8. I was premature on the upgrade because I cant stand Windows 8, the only reason I used 8 and not 7 on this build was because I got a copy for free. Have had nothing but problems for the last 3 days (problems that didn't exist before)

Some examples...
Would not connect to internet "Ethernet doesn't have a valid ip configuration" (Fixed)

Crashed playing game and had no choice but to reset PC. While booting would not recognize HHD drive. Rebooted 3 times and then it worked (Fixed?)

My 2 cents... Hold off on the upgrade.

Are you reporting these errors to Microsoft? Half of the reason they released the OS for free was for "beta" feedback. I use quotes because this is an official release.

I'm waiting for anyone to announce the backdoor they installed in Windows 10 for the government to creep on your stuff, considering the fact Microsoft has a partnership with the privacy invaders.

I got sketched out when it said to use Cortana, I need to send everything I do on the Internet to a server for "individuality" reasons.

I would take your HDD out of your PC and plug it into another PC and just copy all files (if there still there) then format the problem HDD in Disk Management. I might also try resetting your CMOS, either. Then do a fresh install of Windows 7 as your Win7 key will not work with a Windows 10 install. After you've installed and activated Win7 go ahead and try to upgrade to Win10 again. If you have an older Motherboard it may not be a bad idea to flash you're bios either prior to the WIn10 install.

Yes I have been. In fact they had replied that if I could please call them so they could better understand the issues. When I called expected wait time was 2.5 hours so I did not wait on the line lol.

Don't get me wrong, Its wonderful visually and I think it has huge potential. Like anything new and as you said "beta" I knew getting into the upgrade I could expect some issues at first.
