Everyone has heard the announcement and has experienced the new face of the EdgeGamers website. When I say everyone, I do not mean everyone in eGO, I mean everyone in the gaming community. If you read the TF2 article you will learn that our Knight of Demomen event blog was picked up by the official Team Fortress 2 blog and the event was discussed in a famous podcast. We will also be posting game reviews by SigmaTaurus on the new front page. EdgeGamers has been reaching out to the gaming community for years and is being noticed. Please post comments or concerns and what you would like to read about on the new front page in the Drop Box or private message anyone in Media Leadership. Of course, feel free to comment on individual blogs and Newsletter articles in the comments section. Happy reading.

Hello, EdgeGamers, and welcome to yet another edition of the monthly newsletter! This month, I had the honor of sitting down with HoodedScotsman, Minecraft's newest advisor, to interview him about his role in the community.

-So, Hooded, what is your role as an Advisor in the Minecraft Division and how did you go about earning your promotion?

I am the Recruitment Advisor. I earned my promotion by being active on the server and recruiting as many people I could. Also being a good person on the server helps.

-How long have you been a member of EdgeGamers, or more specifically, the MC Division?

I have been a member of eGO since April 4, 2015. I started out in the MC Division.

-Wow, you've been with eGO for just a few months. You must have put in lots of work in that short period of time. Do you think in the future you'll make Division Leader or even higher?

If the group wants me to be DL or higher, I will step up for this challenge.

-What are your plans for being an Advisor for MC, and how do you think you can contribute positively to the division?

My plans are to keep bringing in new, great members to eGO and to keep these new members active. Jade set the bar high, but I think I can do a great job.

-Have you had any other involvement in eGO besides MC such as PSC, Media Team, etc?

Before becoming an advisor, I was an active Event Coordinator with the EC Team for MC. A joint effort between the RC/EC teams is a great way to keep members involved with the community and keep them active.

-If you had the chance, would you go back to being an event coordinator for the MC Division?

Of course I would. In my mind, in addition to the Tech Group, ECs and RCs keep the group alive.

-If you wish, go ahead and tell the community a little about yourself! Name, age, home address, social security.... Okay, not that much... but do share with us who you are outside of EdgeGamers.

Ok, so my SSN has three numbers then two numbers, and then four more numbers. :) . I am 32 years old, I have been gaming since my family bought a computer in the early 90s. I live in PA, USA. I have two children, a seven year old daughter, and a three year old son, both of whom love Minecraft. Outside of gaming I like to spend time with my wife and children. One last thing, I will be competing in the Tough Mudder Event [a team obstacle course event involving lots of mud] coming to PA in October. Muddy Pictures will be posted.

-Sweet! Have fun at the event in October!!

Sometimes, short interviews bring the most out of someone and I think we all learned a bit about eGO's newest advisor. If you haven't already, be sure you congratulate Hooded for his promotion and don't forget to catch his Mustoreo. Something tells me it'll be a hooded mustoreo... y'know, with a hoodie? No? I tried. G'morning, g'night, and see y'all in the September issue of the eGO Newsletter.

Change. No, not those circular bits of metal you find in your pockets. I?m talking about the other kind of change, the change that you would have noticed happening in our community. The good kind of change. From a personal account I?ve noticed a lot happen in the community after being away for a few months. New website, eGOTV, new leadership members, new e?s, division expansions. The list is endless. I almost didn?t recognize anything from before I last saw everything. Some of you may not like all of this though. For some, change is something not welcomed with open arms. Hanging on to old looks, values, and ideas, sits fine with some people. Our community, while respectful to everyone, is always on the move. Fresh ideas, along with new members, keep this community alive. Not without cost though. People were pretty darn upset when we said goodbye to our Call of Duty division. While there were still players interested in keeping it alive, it just wasn?t viable or in line with where leadership wanted to take the community as a whole. It was sadly scrapped quite some time ago.

Divisions come and go as we?ve seen. The last big divisional announcement the community saw was the start of Garry?s Mod. eGO members, in general, are a little crazy. Combine these members with Garry?s Mod and you get some hilarious results. This example of something new, or change if you will, is one way we have moved forward. We continue to do so every day. Whether we?re upgrading servers, implementing new divisional management systems, creating new events, or even changing the look of the community website, these changes shape who we are and define what we?ve become.

To go back into what I said earlier regarding those who aren?t so happy about big changes, it?s a natural response. The important thing to remember is that given enough time, you get used to things fairly quickly. Ask any member of eGO from the old guard and they?ll blow your socks off with stories of what things were like in the community before you joined. We?ve all come a very long way since 2006. Every day leadership is looking for ways to improve all aspects of the community. You can get involved in this too. Whether by getting creative and joining the Media Team, volunteering your skills on the Tech Team, in the NME program, etc., or just providing feedback to your division's leadership, everyone of us has the power to change things in EdgeGamers. You just have to put your mind to it.

Just remember folks, that no matter how or what we change we are progressing to suit the times and stay in the game. While the EdgeGamers you joined may have changed, the people and experiences you have here are always going to be awesome and fun no matter who you are. We?re a special dedicated group of people with a passion for gaming that will be around for many more years to come. Help shape our future and make change that will see this community shine bright for all members. From your reporter in the virtual field, game on.

There are two things I really dig about the BF Division, one of them is their leadership activities and other is their admin scenarios.

Everyone remembers the tourneys made possible by the leadership and the DICE/EA partnership, right? Well their work did not end there.

It is understandable that after getting to be famous with the events mentioned above, EdgeGamer's BF servers (especially BF4's) attract a lot of attention. This popularity attracts new and good players, as well as hackers and cheaters of many sorts.

BF4's Admins must be at the top of their game, improving and constantly upgrading their skills and knowledge when it comes to actually supervising in-game. Admin scenarios propose several (real and possible) situations that are not easily explained with common sense. You actually need to be a really good player in order to understand how those scenarios work and how people are abusing the situations those scenarios propose. Check out the scenarios for August on their Divisional Forum. Or ask about them on TeamSpeak 3, I overheard some discussions about them are really interesting. Again, if you dig the game, you will enjoy the challenge.

Also do not miss the opportunity to play another zombie survival mod this August. If you were part of the previous events, I'm sure you will be there again. If not, you are missing a good mod with great game play and awesome people to play with.

Due to some well spent vacation time I was "forced" (while I was bathing on the beach with a beer and many beautiful women around me) to miss the BF's Olympics event, held a few days ago. How was it? No idea, other than the forums comments say it was really fun. #sorrynotsorry

The time is nigh for the Vegas road trip. An IRL vacation/meet and greet in the ever-sunny Las Vegas, Nevada for a long weekend, October 22 - 26, 2015. The idea was conceived by DoD:S Community Manager Megs A Tagger, and organized by Megs A Tagger, Annihilator, and BigBird. Althoughed formed in DoD:S Teamspeak, it has blossomed into a community-wide event. All are welcome, but you are responsible for your own lodging, food, drink, etc, however we will see what we can do about some casino cash;) Many EdgeGamers members are staying in the Fremont Street area, at the Plaza and other nearby hotels, however you can stay wherever you feel comfortable.

Megs A Tagger provided the following information: "We hope to have at least one big eGO get-together, but we haven't figured out all the details yet. Also be on the lookout for a possible Clan-wide meeting live-stream. We are also going to try to see Artimus' band one of the nights."

A full list of those expected to attend, together with some hotel booking tips and other information is available in this post. Some notable attendees are COO Legend, CEO USCG Hammer (with his family) and Community Managers GardenGrove, Megs A Tagger, Christy, KILLERCANKILL, Oey192, and Mister Adam. If you are interested in attending the best way to get some details would be to join the DoD:S TeamSpeak 3 channel. By all accounts the trip is expected to be not just fun, not only awesome, not even epic, but actually legendary!

In other DOD news, Rufio is back, and the 6th annual eGO fantasy football league is starting. Skippy (the human, not the dog) is at the helm again. The draft will take place on August 30, 2015 at 2:00 pm ET. There may still be some open slots for any eGO arm-chair quarterbacks, post here if you are interested.I predict that this is the year that wewo will take it all, Dr.Compton will be in last place, and Q-Tip will draft Peyton Manning in the first round. At least one of those predictions will come true.

The Hat Game 2!

As usual, full of surprises.

As you might have seen on the front page news, we are expecting an event of large scale involving great sponsors and mods. TF2 and mods coexist like peanut butter and jelly on your sandwich. In order to truly enjoy what is coming, please refer to the information available on the front page news regarding A Knight of Demomen event. This event is so big that it was discussed in the popular KriztKast TF2 Podcast, and our front page news article was posted on the TF2 official blog here (p.s., ignore the trolls commenting on the blog post).

In addition, the TF2 Division is considering entering the competitive arena next season, expected to start in September 2015 (the current season is in the playoffs, with the finals to be played in mid-August). If you are interested in competing respond to this poll. At this time more than 20 members have expressed interest, so it is looking good. In fact, if you are interested, the team leader spot is still up for grabs.

Finally, the valve complete pack will be presented to one lucky participant in the TF2 August screenshot contest. All you need to do is earn 100 points on an eGO TF2 server and post a screenshot. The contest details are posted here.
