Running HDD or SSD

Just want to make this clear before some one thinks they need to go get an ssd to improve their games performance...An SSD WILL NOT, I REPEAT WILL NOT increase the speed in which you shoot or scope or move in game. Every games coding has a set speed for every aspect, only hacks or modified files will change this(SourceMod will change said lines of codes with plugins) example changing the gravity on the server, yes games have bugs that people have figured out over time to be faster or more accurate but it has nothing to do with running a solid state drive. A solid state drive will not give you even an fps boost in a game let alone make your player move faster or shoot faster in any way. The only thing an SSD is going to do is speed up the launch time of the game(basically you wont take as long to get to the main menu). Something an SSD can help with is in Open World games when you need large amounts of maps and details loaded very quickly, this is not an fps boost that you get it just helps with "hitching" as intel calls it which are the slight stutters that can sometimes be seen in open world games on HDD. An SSD is a storage device, thats it, you can access the files needed to launch and load something much faster but once in the game server it has no effect on gameplay in a small mapped fps like dods. As of right now there are some rumors of PCIe SSDs that directly correlate with graphics cards but there are very few options with the lack of Motherboards out there that support it.

That being said if you are running an HDD just like me, you have nothing to worry about you will still kick ass in dods if you are willing to put the time in to get better and be willing to learn and try new things ie. crosshairs, sensitivities, rates, lerps and even different weapon classes.

Although I do have Dods on solid state I read someone mention this recently and wanted to explain to them just this. I decided against it as it can be difficult to explain technical issues to people that are already believers. SSD are great for games like Skyrim and will improve gameplay greatly but for Dods everything will come down to skill. Once you become proficient enough you can make slight gains with better ping and lerp.

What do dinosaurs look like in real life Pred?

I get the so called "hitching" sometimes when someone has just joined the game and it's quite annoying.

Something to also consider is how small the maps are to load. Having a good hdd is key.
One of my SSDs died this week, so I have Windows on my SSD and games on my HDD, it seems 'just as fast' loading maps in DOD and BF. Games like GTA would benefit from being on a SSD, however it doesn't improve FPS, only draw in times for the map and cut scenes. It's especially helpful with all the damn reboots from updates with Windows 10...

On my system:
SSD: 558 MB/s read | 360 MB/s write
HDD: 209 MB/s read | 185 MB/s write
