I use to game on a custom pc I had build 5-6 years ago. Been gaming on a 2 year old Laptop I bought from wally world lol. I asked my friend that was in the same gaming clans i use to be in for some help on building a new pc desktop that is a $500-600 project. I was like to know from any of you what you would recommend on the parts i should get for a mid size tower for the price range listed above? Any incite on this would be helpful from any of you and my friend's list of choices i should buy and build. If not some good recommendations on laptop gaming or desktop gaming that is made to order in a fair price range to upgrade slowly?!
Save more money, or please tell us you're cannibalizing parts that are going to be useful in the new build...
The $500 build is possible, but you will be making some concessions to hit that price range. For example, don't expect to be gaming with the newest mid-tier cards. The new gen CPU (Skylake) is out of your budget. Can you buy and ship in the US or are you overseas?

I normally just lurk around but decided to drop in because this is something I can really talk about.
I also went through the difficult decision of picking the perfect laptop, there are so many options to choose from and you gotta keep your budget in mind. I also wanted a powerful laptop that I could game with but under 1000$. Well you should really save some money first, becuase laptops at that price range are not too durable and will die in a few years.
I chose a laptop over deskptop because I love carrying my laptop around

I live in Texas (worst heat this year i can tell ya that much), I bought a bare bones desktop and just made some upgrades slowly. Which was the custom pc I build little by little with the part time jobs i had at the time. Was good for i say like 5 years with out much of a graphic upgrade. If i have to i can buy a fullsize tower at a computer shop in town that is used for a good price then try to buy the parts to start out with and just go from there. Really just want a desktop because laptops is kind of hard to upgrade or just no way to upgrade.
Also If i really have to push it alittle more i might beable to come up with $900 bucks. Thing is it requires me to not do anything or have another bill to pay (like cable or satellite which i was thinking of getting). Just a pc i can live with but upgrade over time with spare money and also would live up to like 4-5 years before a full upgrade.

Oh yeah failed to mention I do not think i can salavge anything from the mid tower from what my friend told me. Maybe the 9800 geforce card, but he said it was just better to get a mother board with a somewhat latest onboard graphics to use before finding a descent graphics card.
Personally, I would advise you to reconsider the computer purchase completely. If building/owning a computer can force you to decide whether to pay a bill or not, then you have more important financial issues than gaming.
Only bills i have is all bills paid apt lol. Except Electricity which only runs about 30 bucks a month. with the $300 for rent. I have no bills for a car. Bought a used car for $600 last year in good condition. In all i save like little more than $500 a month. But mostly most of it is gone going out or buying movies on the net overly priced band tee shirts and games on steam i can not play sometimes lol. Also I do have like $4,000 in the bank I have been saving up to move to Dallas soon.
Its not about money issues I just want to build a desktop pc in that price range Like i did long ago.If not I can make exceptions and make a list of what parts to buy and with out interfering with what i have to pay at the end of the month or go into my saving account. I did it before, Just want to see if I can again. I like a challenge

Join Overclockers.com forums and those guys always have rigs up for sale. Not everything gets an OC so check it out.
As far as eating out just get a Crock Pot its way easy to cook with and if you get the large one you can cook enough to last a week.

$500 dollars really isn't the budget I'd have for a budget custom pc. This puts constraints on what parts you can choose. I realize desktop gaming is not cheap, but if you save up a decent amount (about $800-$1000) you can build a PC that will not require an upgrade in the near future.
If you are willing to save for a little while longer, I suggest this rig. I found it while I was surfing around Newegg.com Also the power of the rig depends on what games you intend to play.
If you want to play Battlefield 4, Call of Duty, or other Triple-A title, you want a bit more GPU power, if not you can afford to tone it down to a GTX 960

Destop rules laptop's is terrible
Well Thank you all for the feedbacks, took a short break from DoD just Went back to Guild Wars 2 for a while. Well I decided ,after i check out the site giving on her another else where, That I am going to get a custom build pc from Xidax website. I signed up for the no credit check and qualified. So I guess im going to get a bit more higher end pc and pay in payment installments. But thank you all for the help on this subject. Cya in DoD peeps!

I built one for $500 (I got a really good deal on OS tho) and I can run pretty much anything..
Tell us the specs; you said this in another thread without giving that out. Can you play Elite
angerous? Expect to use Oculus?
