Tech Help high pings

Hello, does anyone know why the pings are so high on BFBC2 server? I had AT& T checking my inter net and all was good, I had always had a ping around 80 for years . now when I get in the game I'm getting anywhere from 250 -500 , was kicked off the other night for 500 ping, saw one person with a 750, everyone is having high pings ! does anyone know if it is the server?

AT&T isn't going to check your internet connectivity to other networks, only if the physical connection is good going from their equipment to your house. If pings are jumping up that high, it might be a processing problem, i.e, your computer running so many processes that an onboard NIC is latent in processing packets. Can you check the resource usage when you load up BFBC2? Does this happen on any other games?

Can you do a traceroute to the BFBC2 server? Destination: bdc2_27.edge-gamers.com

I understand about the AT&T I was making sure I did not have a problem on my internet, I did run a trace and was getting 27ms to server, but I had never gotten high pings until about a week ago , along with everyone else. I always check my process back ground and turn off anything that I know is safe to do so. like I said everyone was having high pings not just me, I did go to another server and it was also high. now yesterday I played and my ping was around 80 and I notice others were low. I played for couple hours and it got around 110, so maybe things have worked them self out.. who knows why it was so high it was kicking players the other days.. anyway thank you again for the reply..

Does it happen during the day or only at night? Is it cable or DSL? If its dsl the age of the phone lines, the weather and distance from their servers can all degrade it. If its cable, it be someone in your neighborhood is doing massive downloading sucking away your bandwidth.
