Class Limits?

Has this ever been discussed? I know it's extremely frustrating when I'm sniping and suddenly, there are 5 snipers on my team (1/3 - 1/2 the team) and I'm being constantly shoved around by the others muscling in on a spot Im already in. There are numerous places to snipe from, and I rotate fairly often, but when I lining up someones head, get shoved or simply stepped in front of by another sniper (and subsequently end up dead) it gets very frustrating.

Anyone should be able to tell you that I'm all about the team. I'll change class / team as needed, immediately suiciding. So often, I end up playing something else when everyone and their dog come to test out their "l33t" sniping ability simply because it's ridiculous having that many on a team, and non-eGO members don't really care about balance. Sniping is my true joy in TF2, although I enjoy several other classes, but I think everyone would benefit if a reasonable max was put in place (3 per team on a 32 slot server seems like plenty to me).

Just my 2 cents, if this has already been touched on I apologize, but I would like to see what opinion everyone is of.

Cheers,
Dryft

EDIT: I should also mention that I'm specifically talking about 2fort which I generally play, I havent noticed it as that much of an issue on other maps

The council has said that there will not be any class limits on the TF2 side.

I think the best thing to do is just mention in TEAM chat that maybe your team doesnt need 5 snipers and 5 enigeers leaving 2 random classes.

I was on Convoy one night and we had 6 engineers and 4 snipers I think it was, I was scout, and the other guy was demoman. There is no way in hell we were going to be able to grab the intel. So, I just made a few comments and hoped for people to change classes, I think a few actually did.

good thing. i love it when like everybody goes one class...makes the game interesting!

Oh man, 2 fort is notorious for multiple snipers. Usually everyone's happy to change class, specially anyone from eGO, so it never hurts to ask.

I love sniping in 2 fort, but i rarely do it, watch out for FenixFire!

I could not agree with you more dryft. That has happened to me countless times and it annoys the heck outta me, although they wont be changing it =[

I love sniping, class limits are great if you're in the class you want to play in. Class limits when you're not in a class you want to play or worse the class is occupied by inept players. That irks me more than having 12 engineers or 10 snipers

FenixFire is relatively harmless if I'm sitting there jumping back and forth in front of him. :-D

I agree it can be annoying if you don't have the right balance of classes. However everyone is free to play however they want (provided they are sticking to the rules), it's fine to mention to the team they may get better results by switching. However personally I feel the best thing to do is lead by example, even if I am the teams only pyro and everyone else is Sniper/Engie... If what the team needs is a Spy for example, i'll change.

It does no good constantly telling everyone "too many snipers" over and over again... Whilst you are playing, you have power over only yourself in game. So if something needs doing, you're the only person who can promise to make that change.

Hopefully with good communication and a bit of leadership from youself, the rest of the team will notice that they'll get better results by balancing the classes.. hopefully they'll follow.

On occasion you'll find nobody will change for the good of the team, regardless of how you try to help. In that case, they'll get pwned over and over again... then they'll leave, making way for more open players. Either way, stick with it... A player who is willing to switch classes for the good of the team is someone who will get far more credit in the end, even if their points are lower, than the sniper who has loads of kills, but has not contributed much else.

2fort is generally annoying to me because 90% of the time 5 guys on each team are snipers. I havent really noticed much of that in any other map. Dustbowl always gets a lot of engies on red team, but thats good. Plus, having 5 or more engies on the opposing team can be a lot of fun too. Demomen have a field day.

I frequently see a disproportionate amount of snipers in Convoy, and that's usually when I decide to bail on the map because it's becoming no fun. I think an entire team of snipers is a fine idea if they're all playing well and coordinating their efforts. It's when you have the aforementioned five snipers in a row camping in the same spot that it becomes a problem.
