Here is a picture of my 16 GB RAM installation. [ame]https://twitter.com/EricGilbreath/status/639670299420700672[/ame]

The upper slot is Slot 1, and the lower slot is Slot 2. Slot 1 is currently installed fine. Slot 2 is currently empty and in the picture is installed upside down and incorrectly.

Is it supposed to be upside down?

How can I install the 8 GB into slot 2 to make it read? :chair:

We have a Tech section of our forums for this kind of stuff.

I'm not sure what exactly it is you're asking. In that picture, Windows is detecting 16 gigs of RAM with 15 gigs usable. The 1 gig you're not going to get because you have an APU/AGP aka internal video card. Your RAM splits with your internal video card.

as far as installation goes, as long as you didn't force a piece and it naturally fits, it's installed correctly. If there's resistance or you feel like you need to force it, don't. Parts aren't made to be forced into places, something's wrong.

am i missing something here?

Ric got everything there needs to be said. You installed it just fine, no issues. You can ONLY install memory a specific way because of the way the gap is set up. If you don't put it in correctly, you will see it not align correctly. The only way you can ever install it incorrectly is by breaking the point of contact (hence don't force it in place)

Ok but it began to read 1.96 usable and then it wouldn't start at all. But I got it fixed. Thanks guys. 16 GIG!

Ohhh. Those are important details you left out. OK. If you ever have any problems with tech, make a thread here. It's our tech forum section.
