Discussion on motherboards

But whats the speed? It should list in a box above the timings a speed in mhz. Multiply it by 2 and thats your speed.

I guess you can't get the evga 680i because it is an atx motherboard. Your case only supports matx motherboards.

His case is a mid tower. They fully support full ATX, heck I got a mid tower with a full atx board in there. Granted its tight, would prefer the full tower.

its obvious that if its pc6400 that its gonna be 800 mhz, but if theres other ddr2 memory that pc6400 that has diff mhz, then by all means, let me know. also ive actually thought bout gettin a full tower case. like i said i dont like the design of the hard drive case (& trust me ive tried changing it, but its bolted into place & am 2 lazy 2 change that) but there r some cases that look interesting 2 me. but i would have 2 say that thats the least of my worries. my main worry is getting another job (that way i can upgrade my psu, its only 460 & would like 2 upgrade it to something that is over 500).

Ok, an update. Ive done some research & since laugh doesnt like the latest work by ASUS, does anyone have a specific mobo or a specific manufacturer that they would recommend when it comes to me getting a newer one?

I've had good luck with MSI, which was always my second choice after ASUS.

Abit and MSI are always good.... other than that maybe Sapphire or Biostar (only experience if with builds, and they always seemed to have a great layout and bios support).

Personally... my last 6 boards have all been Abit.

Edit: More specifically... what platform are you looking into? am2 or lga775?

lga 775, im gonna stay w/ intel cpu's. ill look into msi, abit, & biostar.

Ok guys, I believe I found a motherboard that ill get as an upgrade. Check it out [link]http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128084[/link] .

I'm going after the P5K-E and I believe it's going for around 150 or less on newegg. If you are using the LGA775 socket that is.

I'd stick with Intel at the moment, The Q and not the X quads are relatively cheap right now.

hey veruca, u may want to check the cpu settings on this motherboard that i have picked out.

ok, now that ive gotten my stimulant deposit, im now gonna get a better motherboard. since newegg has changed their stock of motherboards, any1 have a good recommendation for a specific motherboard? im gettin the intel c2d e6750 & would like 2 get a more up2date motherboard (i was checking the drivers for my motherboard & they are nearly 3 years old & i prob got this motherboard 2 years ago).

check out tigerdirect, too - i've found that a lot of times they have a better selection on mobo/cpus...always a good idea to cross price check before you buy :-)

no offense, but newegg.com has a far better selection & better prices than tigerdirect does. i have done some business w/ em in the past (that is b4 i found out bout newegg.com)
