Guys stop posting in the request/contest ban threads unless you are directly involved in the issue at hand, lately a lot of people have been adding their own comments about the requests. The advisor and council members make the call and appreciate keeping these contests as simple as possible.

If you have relevant information about past behavior about somebody and it's not directly related to the posted incident, then PM OfficerFriendly, Michael Scott or another Advisor/Council Member. But do it fast! It doesn't do anybody any good to chime in after they've made their decision.

From my understanding, the ban request forum is a tool for us, not a gripe session.

Exactly right, Jubei. I know that sometimes it may feel like you're helping by adding a simple piece of information, but we really do strive to keep these threads as clean and clear as possible. If you have a piece of information that is burning you up inside, then PM it to the original poster (e.g. "hey, you forgot to mention" or "you can get xxx from this place").

Yeah, I don't know whats going on, but apparantly I posted in a contest ban thread, when I know for a fact that I didn't, and it's confusing.

Bumping this thread for viewing since some people still haven't figured it out. Please keep your personal comments and opinions out of the threads and let a Council or Advisor member take care of it. As Flippy said, it may feel like you're helping by adding a simple piece of information, but we really do strive to keep these threads as clean and clear as possible.

PLEASE STOP POSTING IN THE CONTEST/REQUEST BANS UNLESS YOU ARE DIRECTLY INVOLVED IN THE BAN!

What if it is something that can be answered fully by an eGO? Like dis one:

I thought that went very smoothly and was clean and clear. But I won't do it if you wish to handle them all.

What is there not to get? If you are not the banning admin or you were not on the server when the incident took place, DO NOT POST.

You, however, were on the server when the incident took place and you presented a demo for review, therefore it was fine. For those of you who chime in with "I know I'm not involved in this ban, but I think -insert personal opinion here-", please do not post.

I agree. As much as I wanted to get in on the Ban section you just have to backspace and let the admins handle it. If you want to say something to the poster, PM the guy. That way you don't make it confrontational, make it something for others to see, or muddy up the situation.

Advisors and Council members will handle these two threads period. We need the thread to be clean and if there is a case where an eG says something without knowing that an e is on the watch or has been under scruitiney by the advisors/council then the person in question may get the wrong idea. If you were involved in the ban ie the banning admin, a player present or you saw the person in question earlier but didn't catch them then post a simple response but do not do anything else. I am tired of seeing comments made about requests or admins asking constantly for a response when we are still trying to decide what is going to happen. Demos need to be reviewed, logs may need to be pulled and with members we don't want to jump the gun unless the member is way out of line.

Well said. When we go through the ban threads, we want to get straight to the point and handle the situation as smoothly as possible. Personally, when I'm looking at a thread, I don't want to have to read through a bunch of chit-chat.

Please keep in mind; although you may think you're helping the situation, we do know what we're doing.

I do apologize for responding to a few, although oddly enough, I find myself related to a few...

The two times that I have had input on a ban request both times I sent a PM. It's not that hard. If we, as a clan, want players to turn themselves around when they are on the cusp, then we HAVE to keep the jumping on the bandwagon to nil. If the requests to ban and the ban contests are handled with respect then we have a better chance to turn around players who are skirting the line. Seriously, who feels good when people pile on the gripes? Certainly not the person in question. Even if the banned player does the absolute worst and we NEVER want to see them again, we should carry ourselves in such a way to convey to those who may lurk that we abide by our own rules.

Its not a matter of you helping Booster, I found some posts helpful but its a matter of us letting you guys do your job and us doing ours. Basically state the case and we will handle the decision and what they need to do in order to get unbanned.

Ok I have another small question. This has happened to me two or three times now....

I have watched someone either hack or act up in general and given them several warning and then maybe come here to post ban request on the hacker or just reading through the ban requests and I find that another poster has made a post about that person.

So is it okay to ADD to their request? Add information on hacker and an extra demo? Or add that he was already warned previously by me or others. Or would it be more help to double post. That being said would you just rather them post in the existing thread with the format again so condense two requests into one thread. I will elaborate if that confuses you guys I know I ramble and get a little drawn out :P

More than one demo can help incase a demo is borderline good or bad so yes add in that case. Avoid double posts if possible and like I said if you just missed the guy and you see someone else caught him then sure go ahead and said something simple like "I warned him on dustbowl also" We want to avoid comments like you should not have sworn etc etc. Judge if you go to a thread and see that we have edited your comment then it was not pertent but if its still there then you got the right idea ok?

Thank you officer and midway for clearing this up, i couldn't stress this enough. If your looking for a way to get noticed in the clan, this is not the thread to be doing such actions. We know you all mean good when you post but please don't, helps us out when you let us handle it.

Ok, case in point. Moose needed a steam ID and I found it for him and instead of posting in the thread, I PM'd him, Morbid and OfficerFriendly (in case one of the advisors got to it before Moose could).

There are still people who seem to be unaware of the stickies and this thread in particular.

Sooo... please understand that we don't want clutter in the Ban Request or Contest Bans forums.

That is EXACTLY what you should do. The PM system is exceptionally useful in this instance, as is Steam Friends. Heck, some of us have our regular email address in our profiles, use that.
