Ok, so I am having a little bit of a problem with manually controlling my fan on my second video card. I have used both rivatuner and even the the nvidia tool (I know that it is very unreliable and is not very effective).
The primary card will run at 95% fan speed at all times like I have set it to run, but the second card will revert right back to auto (when it runs at auto-adjusting it never rises above 10% fan speed). I have to minimise and manually ramp it up to 100% for a bit to cool it off when I am done playing or if I minimise. The core on the second card rises to mid and upper 70's now, yet the primary card's core caps out in the 50's.
I have 2x XFX GeForce 8600 GTS XXX cards SLI'd. I thought that it might be a driver issue, but I have reinstalled drivers twice now and it doesn't seem to help. I have Rivatuner set to have the fans run at 95% on startup, but only the primary fan takes effect. I even altered the nvidia control panel default profile settings to run both at 95% fan speed, but that still doesn't help my second card. Anyone know of a way to fix this?
