This month, we are changing things up a bit. whoflungpoo has prepared the intro and put together the newsletter for us; thanks buddy.
wewo

October: With Halloween fast approaching and a lot of spookiness in the air, we begin this Newsletter a little oddly; with an apology. As you may have seen (well actually didn't see at all), we did not have a Newsletter last month for September. This is due to people being busy with real life commitments, but also with the lack of reporters, editors, and artists we currently have. Everyone on the Team can only do so much. So, what I ask you is if you're interested in joining the Media Team, whether you're a seasoned veteran to Media related stuff or what some might call a Media "noob", come out and give it a try. It's a blast! If you are interested, please send a heart-warming private message to the main Newsletter Advisor himself, wewo.

Oh, I almost forgot to talk about Halloween! The quote of the month is pretty simple and might save you from wetting your pants this Halloween season as you watch a scary movie or go to a haunted house or for some reason have to visit the in-laws:

"The only thing we have to fear is fear itself." -Former United States President Franklin D. Roosevelt (courtesy of http://www.brainyquote.com/)

Censorship.

Freedom of speech is a complex human right. While some countries endorse and enforce it, other nations limit it for several reasons (political, economical, religious and many more).

Video games are subject to censorship as well. You can observe the level of censorship a title has with what is called a Rating or Classification, as follows:

eC: Early childhood - For games like Silent Hill and such.

E: Everyone - i.e. Anything made or produced by Bethesda and Bethesda Softworks (Fallout, Dishonored, Elder Scrolls). That's why it's Everyone rated, because everyone should totally play those.

T: Teen - Anything within the borders of Call of Duty. The more you scream on your mic while playing and the more annoying you become, the better.

M: Mature - If you play an Online Dating Game, where you lack any skills to coexist with real people, this rate is just for you, n00b.

A or R: Adult / Restricted: +18 y.o. Animal Crossing is a great example.

Did you know that Australia is considered one of the strictest countries in the world when it comes to censoring content? According to Wikipedia, in 1970 an Office was specifically created to check movies, books, games, pretty much everything that included content to the public. This office was disbanded, only to be replaced with another office with even stricter standards.

Does that sound logical to you? We need the government to tell us what to consume at certain ages, because back in the day when Eminem released his album, The Marshall Mathers LP, you couldn't be sure of the content of the lyrics in advance, and the poor minds of children and teens would be mutilated if they listened the album without proper parental supervision. Some of you guys were not even born then, but, to be honest, the album rocks. Do not listen it if you are not at least 13 years old and have a "mind subject to confusion due to controversial topics". I don't want your parents sending me harsh e-mails because I suggested you grow up too quickly.

Well Australia took all that and added 1,000 tons of more censorship. I'd go all the way describing it, but the article is HERE. Read it, and beware, because Australia is watching you!

Now let's be honest, OK? Who here actually ever paid attention to the rating labels. I mean did you restrain yourself from buying a game/movie/book/album because it held the words "For Mature audiences only"?

If you did, good for you, the system likes you.

If you did not, like yours truly, good for you as well, because the fault is on your parents who were not able to supervise your interests.

And those words are not even mine, they are the basis for the rating systems. I am not saying they don't work or they are useless, I just believe the censorship is still useful only to protect children from oblivious parents so they can know what their underlings are doing with their free time. The funny thing about all this is just that when those restrictions were implemented they tried a little bit too hard to become a beacon of truth in a world full of people who couldn't google up the name of the artist to acquire information of his/her work before consuming it.

Anyway, keep your toddlers away from those Mature rated games. And don't be THAT PARENT who will get his butt reported to the police because you let your 7 year old play Grand Theft Auto.

Haha. Oh, England...

SPAAAAAACE! You better buy a telescope because I'm in SPAAAAAACE!!! -Space Core. Portal 2.

Space age games are trending this half of the year. You know how it is, one day you have movies, books, games and what not about a family of vampires and werewolves and soon everything around you has a dude's face who sparks when put to the sunlight.

And we all know there are great classics when it comes to space exploration and combat games. Oddly enough, this last half of the year and the next year's first semester will be overwhelmed with amazing titles, expected to be not only good, but Sigmaliciously good! And yes, they will be properly reviewed for eGO's game reviews.

What is the difference between a good space combat game and one that does not meet the quota? Newtonian Laws for Physics. If you have no idea what I'm talking about, you better google them cuz' you look like a dork.

We talked in the Game Reviews about GRAV, but there is a competitor who so far has everyone mouth agape with the details of their project, and its name is No Man's Sky.

There are games that tried a little bit too hard to be on the top list, one of them, Elite: Dangerous, which even though its a promising game, falls short.

Everyone played Mass Effect, didn't you? We are expecting a new tittle for 2016, because having sexy intercourse with everyone in your ship is never dull!

Do not forget about Fractured Space, the attempt of the creators of the fantastic title Strike Suit Zero to make even more money with another space game. Fractured Space is good, but SSZ is something else entirely, you need to play it. Now. The Director's Cut.

On the other side of the galaxy, in the dark corner of "Beta" Nebulae, we find games that are still under development but already charging for almost nothing like Ascent: The Space Game, Empyrion, Pulsar Lost Colony and many more that are too early access for my taste.

Within the section of mobile games that made it to the PC, you will find one of the best sagas for Space combat: Galaxy on Fire. And soon the third installment will be available. Find it and play the second one so you can follow up.

Star Citizen is another game that made me hold my breath during E3.

We even went to Zer0, Advisor for DoD:S and he shared his experiences with Space related games:

SigmaTaurus: Do you play space age games often?

Zer0: I like space themed games in general, but I love playing space engineers and planetary annihilation.

SigmaTaurus: Do you like space games that are focused on space combat? Like Galaxy on Fire?

Zer0: I haven't played Galaxy on Fire, but I'm always up to play any game that lets me fly a space ship and blow things up.

ST: Ok then are you expecting a release? There is a long list of games to be expected, such as No Man's Sky and Elite: Dangerous update.

Zer0: I'm really looking forward to No Man's Sky, not so much for the combat or things like that, but since the developers said it will be hard to team up with friends across such a large universe, I took that as a challenge.

Zer0: I WILL FIND MY FRIENDS! My ship will make the kessel run in less then twelve parsecs!

Zer0: sorry nerded out there for a sec.

ST: Anything you'd like to add to the topic of space age gaming?

Zer0: Buzz Lightyear said it best - To infinity and beyond.

ST: Which is a contradictory metaphor for a space ranger, but who am I to question his plastic-made in china-laser pointed ideas.

So, please refer to your nearest Steam Account for more information on the games mentioned and stay tuned for the upcoming Game Reviews, that will go all PEW PEW with lasers and stuff.

Invasions Are Coming Back!

The PSC version of an invasions

Invasions are hosted by the PSC Recruiting Coordinating team. For most divisions, invasions start off in the main servers to help fill them or just to have fun. While on our servers, members are encouraged to help recruit players to EdgeGamers. The PSC members are on hand to assist the members and promptly process applications.

The role of the Recruiting Coordinators

The PSC RCs host the Invasions. Members of PSC together with everyone else participating "invade" a game/division in eGO and focus on recruiting and having fun at the same time. When these events are posted, you can find them on the EdgeGamers forum calendar and Steam calendar and posted within the forum of the soon to be invaded division. PSC Recruiting Coordinators also plan other events throughout eGO.

When you can expect an invasion of your division

There is no set schedule for invasions. You may be attacked at any time, at the discretion of the PSC RC team. However, if you are itching for a fight and would like an invasion in your division, you could always contact one of the PSC Recruiting Coordinators with an idea of what you would like to do. But remember, the RC's may already have an invasion of your division planned.

Good links to keep bookmarked

-eGO's Calendar
-Steam Calendar
-Front page
and your divisions forum section!

For any questions regarding invasions or the PSC Recruiting Coordinating Team (including information about becoming a member of the PSC RC team), contact RipplyTiger151 and doppler1 . You can find a list of current PSC Recruiting Coordinators here.

The scene is a small town in France. The time period is World War II.

As a U.S Army solider with an M1 Garand, you run out of spawn and past your first flag. It's all clear because the rest of your team is pushing up against the Wehrmacht at a different location. Next, you run through the dark and narrow alley behind your sniper house and inside. You peak out of the window next to a giant piano and see a huge tank in the middle of street, bullets flying in every direction. Suddenly, you notice a Wehrmacht sniper in the shadows of their sniper house across the street, and duck just as a bullet passes through the spot that your head had recently vacated. You now have three choices: run up the stairs to the top of the house and shoot back at the sniper, run onto the street and move up, or do what the majority of us do and hide in a corner. You choose to run onto the street and into your Suze, which is a building between tank house and your sniper house.

Just then, you notice your team is trying to capture the tank and could use your assistance. You jump on while grenades, bullets, and bodies rain down all around you. After a few seconds, it is capped and you run down connector, which is another small narrow alley in the center of the map, for cover. Connector connects the main street to the field (some call it garden), which your team also controls now. After calling for a "Medic!" to administer to all the damage you took on tank, you peek outside of field to look down the Wehrmacht street, where their 2-flag remains standing. However, one of your teammates next to you gets sniped from somewhere and you must figure out a different way to get down the street. Luckily, some player with a Thompson named whoflungpooatwho flings a smoke grenade to give you a way to get into Cafe, which over looks the Wehrmacht street. Don't get too excited, though, there is only a bottle of wine in the Cafe.

Nobody seems to notice that you're in there, so you look at your mini-map to see where the rest of your team is. You see that they are pushing up Bench Alley, which is located behind the Wehrmacht sniper house, and into their spawn house. This is your chance. You dart out of the Cafe door and onto the street. Just then, you see the Wehrmacht first flag has been captured and know that only one flag stands between your team and victory, and it's in your sights. You hold down your Run button (whatever it may be, but for me it's Enter) and are at the flag. You stand on it and notice it's not capturing. Then, you look down and see a Wehrmacht player laying down on the flag. So, you stab him in the back with your knife, capture the flag, and your team is victorious! Finally, to celebrate the victory, you and your team hunt down remaining Wehrmacht players until the next round starts. You even receive a few "ups" for doing a great job.

Does this seem exciting, intense, and awesome to you? Well you can experience it! Join the DoD:S Division 24/7 =(eGO)= DONNER NO BOTS! | GameME server. The IP address is 162.252.82.23:27015. Come join the fun!

Minecraft Events and a New Advisor

Most divisions in EdgeGamers have some sort of event program. There is one in particular one that I would like to cover, the Minecraft Division's events. The Minecraft Division's event coordinators work very hard and the events are extremely successful. Every day of the week besides Wednesday, Minecraft hosts an event at 8:00 pm ET. You can find a full list of events here and their hard working event coordinators here.

If you're lazy and don't want to click on the link above, the events that the MC division have range from a Race Night where members race in a usually parkour manner to the end, all the way to a newly renamed Retro Night which features different "minigames" that have previously been retired from the event program. My personal favorite is Mastermind where individuals or groups work to figure out a certain pattern of colors in five guesses or less. The person/group that gets it in the least amount of guesses wins.

The winners of these events get Dragon Eggs. These Dragon Eggs are a very special thing to be able to get on the server as they are only given out to event winners and those who recruit. Of course, they are also sold by the original recipients. After a player collects approximately 45 Dragon Eggs, there are many "leadership (god) items" they can purchase using them. These include a "God Pick" which allows you to mine more efficiently or even a mob spawner which has many different purposes.

I recently interviewed Minecraft's newest Advisor, Summer.

Here is our interview:

- How long ago did you join EdgeGamers?
Around six and a half years ago. I've been here awhile.

- Before your promotion to Advisor, what did you do?
I was an Event Coordinator. I hosted Tuesday night and Friday Night. That is minigame night and Mastermind. I also built some of the events like the Easter Egg Hunt and one other that I can't remember that is still in testing right now.

- Now that you are an Advisor, what are your basic responsibilities?
To be online, answer questions, and you know, advise people.

- How do you feel about being selected as Minecraft's newest Advisor?
I think it is awesome that they would pick me.

- I think it is safe to say that Minecraft events are pretty successful. Do you have anything to say about this success?
The EC group is amazing! Everybody works together to get stuff done and attendance is pretty good. Everyone is just doing a good job and what they are supposed to do. It's just the people running those events on the EC team.

- Will being an Advisor for Minecraft change your gameplay, or no?
No, not really. I think it is the same, its just when I have to work on something, I'll change a little bit. Overall, it's not going to change at all.

- Has your view on Leadership changed since being promoted?
No, its about the same.

- Do you have anything else to say? Whether it be Minecraft or EdgeGamers as a whole?
Well, if anyone has any questions, just come talk to me.
