This year's Crimefest is bringing a P2W system to Payday. Do not support it.

With this Crimefest, Payday added The Black Market Update, which is basically their Mannpower update with the worst aspects of the CS:GO system.

From their website:

Vlad?s operation is smuggling brand-new, precision-engineered Safes from Washington state to Washington D.C. But these safes are tough to open. Only the best heisters, with the right tool, can crack them.
Each safe drops a slick weapon skin, and each skin may have special mods and a stat boost associated with it. Sometimes, very rarely, a safe may even contain a precious Legendary skin.

Aside from looking awesome, a skin offers more than cosmetics. Skins can improve the stats of the weapon, perhaps making it more stable or affecting concealment. Some skins come with associated mods, capable of further improving the stats. Finally, a rare Stat Boost modifier might come with the skin, giving you that extra edge.

Personally, I don't mind a skins system. I do mind, however, when your cosmetics impact stats. Your game is now effectively P2W, and what's worse, the safes have to be unlocked by paying money. Sound familiar?

Crimefest is meant to be a free event, and this is the antithesis of it. Overkill has also said in the past that Payday 2 will not have microtransactions.

Community reaction has been as expected, with people flocking to Steam forums to complain, resulting in their posts being removed for damage control. The community on /r/paydaytheheist is boycotting the game until they hear word from Overkill regarding the changes.

This is extremely disappointing, from a game that has sold millions of copies, and brought in millions from there DLC/Addons. We can't say they are money hungry, because they don't need any more.

The only thing one can have when they have money is more money.

I'd imagine most of the complaint threads are being deleted because there is a stickied post in the Steam forum expressly for the black market update where some 2,200 people have sounded off thus far as of this post.

I'm really hoping they do away with the stat increases on the weapon skins as well, but the whole skin vibe just sounds really odd IMO as well. What's stopping someone from saying "screw the safe, I have lastbullet!" and finding someone who made their own skin that looks just like the ones from the safe?

At the same time though I think a lot of people are really jumping over not all that much with the stat increases skins give as they aren't some massive source that breaks the weapon's balance. The boost to the stats is pretty small, with the one example being a +4 boost to stability. That's not gamebreaking, and if someone absolutely has to have that extra 4 stab. to be successful they've got some other problems well before that one. But then again like I said, I'm not a massive fan of the stat boosts on skins either, so don't go jumping at my throat or something. ;D

There have been rumors that they nerfed stock weapons to push the Stat changes . I'll need to check /r/paydaytheheist again.

It's really too bad this seems to be the way games are going... Hopefully based on the outrage from players, they will modify this to please people a bit more.

P2W games ruin the game totally especially if this feature comes to Payday 2 omg that's going to mess the game up!!!
