Battlefield Division 25% discount on battlefront lol

Complaining about a discount?! What has this world come to!!! Yeah, why would a discount be one of the reasons why you wouldn't get it?
 
Its not so much the discount, it's the discount for a game that is not even released yet. EA, while controlling the pricing of the game that is authorized to sell keys/digital copies, probably tallied up the comments on the Battlefront beta and decided that their projected customer base for the game was, in no way, going to pay 60 bucks for it. It's the whole "hotwire.com" mentality; would rather sell at a discount, as opposed to not selling at all. They do not want to have another Titanfall or Hardline with this title.

Raise your hand if you got battlefield 4 for roughly that same price before the game was released, or about a month later, or a month later than that.
 
It's pretty sad to see hate for a game that looks and runs so well. Oh well. It's on my christmas list lol.

Never paid for any previous Battlefield games except for BF4 and Hardline, which i returned less than a hour of playing lol.Never been a big fan of EA/Dice to begin with but, it is what it is i guess.
 
I really do not see the reasoning behind a lot of your complaints.

About 95% of the reviews I've read and heard have been extremely positive of this game. Literally the only negative comments I've seen, have come from 1 or 2 people including tuna on this forum.

If you say this, you have no idea what you're talking about.

The game mechanics behind this game is completely different from the battlefield series. Including the movement mechanics, multiplayer and weapon mechanics, and flight mechanics. So saying this is a reskin is dumb.

You could just say "hey, I dont enjoy this game", and that would be fine, but instead, going on about "oh its a reskin", which I've seen in other threads, to "Oh its made by dice its going to be bad, and since its on sale on 1 website (that I've never heard of) that means the response to the beta was bad".

When in fact the response to the beta was extremely positive.

Remove your bias of the creator of the game. You'll enjoy the game.

I think what he was pointing out was the 25% discount on a game not even out is kinda a big discount. Hell not even when the big Steam sales happen do you see a discount of that much for new triple A title games.

Being a reputable site, I highly doubt they got "dodgy" codes. Maybe the site got a great deal on the games/codes through EA that they could offer such a deal, maybe it's a limited supply/time deal, or maybe they over stocked on the game and don't have any faith they will sell the inventory they have.

As for it being a reskin. I wish the game was a reskin of Battlefield... I might of enjoyed it more.

I loved the gameplay and it didn't feel like a reskinned Battlefield at all. It felt like they used the engine and movement mechanics and interweaved them with the Star Wars universe very well. My dislike for the game had nothing to do with gameplay but what's missing and at what cost.

First and foremost is cost. I am getting tired of the pay full price for the game and then another $50 for all the Expansions. That a ton of money to shell out for a game.

Now I wouldn't be so opposed to the cost this time if they had followed the Battlefield model a bit more closely. Instead though, they decided that there was no need for a campaign. A Star Wars game without a campaign is sad. Especially with the price of $60. They have such a great universe and cast of characters that they could have made a stellar story and instead opted to make a multiplayer game with no story.

Add on top of that that the multiplayer game doesn't allow community owned servers and the cost of $120 is too much for the full game. If I want to play 24/7 Hoth then I should be able to and that's how PC gaming has worked for a long time. Removing that makes the game lack too much for it to be worth what they are asking for.

I love Star Wars and I will spend my money on Episode VII before I do on Battlefront unless they add a campaign at the very least.

This is the meat of the conversation right here, and perhaps one of the driving forces of the price drop. Chances are, EA decided to drop the price of the game listed on other sites because of this. Hardline has a campaign. BF4 has a campaign, if you can call it that. Why doesn't a franchise, which has a somewhat immersive storyline, have a campaign? With so many other games on the horizon, not to mention across platforms and exclusive titles, it's absurd to think that an educated gamer would accept 60 bucks as a price point for the quality of content you would get in Battlefront.

A.) There is a solo mode called "Mission" where you can play alone or cooperatively with a friend

I guess this could be some sort of campaign.


Although it is not exactly clear, there will probably be some type of dedicated servers.

The single player missions have no story. They are just practice game modes basically. Also the dedicated servers just mean that the multi-player isn't peer to peer. There is no server browser so there won't be community servers.

Welllllll

I got Battlefield 4 Premium for under $40 after tax, I've spent a lot of money since then in the game on the shortcuts so I reckon it adds out to about $80 for one game! That's a lot. Call me old-fashioned but I remember the $49.99 prices on all of the hottest titles..

With that being said yeah $120 seems like a lot for one game. .Especially if it doesn't have a story. But there is a reason for this. Star Wars fans will compete to see who si the most die-hard and they will be buying it regardless of if they can run it or whatever if they plan on playing it/

I have played a few Star Wars games but they have never been my style

Too time consuming, way way back I had the first Star Wars RPG on PC a true gem, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic(also known as KOTOR).

That game was too open-ended and immersive for me and I never got probably even 5% total complete which isn't like me. I beat games. I've probably beaten well over 100. I know I have.

With that being said this is not an anti post. As a matter of fact I have seen all of the Star Wars movies and I plan on seeing Episode 7 on Christmas it is I believe.

I've seen a push for people to be buying it. I can't run it. So that's my reason for not even very looking into it.

Unjustified price tag....
There will be no space battles, dogfighting was meh at best (not much of an improvement over 1998 SW Rogue Squadron tbh), no storymode, no dedicated servers, so anything I was expecting from the next Battlefront will not happen.
Oh and $120 for the "full game" is simply BS, EA is just trying to see how much ppl are willing to throw at them so they can charge as much as possible for their following titles. And there is no way I?m gonna pay $120 for BF5...
But if ppl start preordering EA is gonna think we all are willing to pay that much and they are going to start thinking $120 should be the baseline so doing the math BF6 could be $240, cuz screw gamers as long as EA gets rich...

I don't like how there is no learning curve for the game, it's too easy.....not sure if that is a good or a bad thing right now, but there is nothing challenging about it.

I simply used my skills and knowledge from Battlefield 4 and would be the only player to keep the objectives alive and ours or be the main man pushing. It needs a big change in it's style of play.

Yes it's and FPS. Yes it can be seen as any other shooter. But the way that DICE and EA have made this game out to be, the BETA was a big disappointment for me.
