Tech Help my comp is up all night.

Since switching to windows 10 my computer will not go to screen saver nor go to sleep automatically. I have set it up in settings to go to SS after 10 minutes and sleep after 20. Any advice?

Thats real odd, I would contact microsoft on the windows store website livechat, from what I have heard they have been doing a lot of support for those issues.

Did you bother updating your drivers for your motherboard?

Do you have any peripherals attached to the computer while it's trying to go to sleep or screensaver mode, such as a webcam or joystick? Try removing those; there's been a rash of similar issues related to drivers causing this kind of issue. Though not mobo drivers as Cloaked guessed, the drivers are turning up in a variety of mediums, from USB webcams, joysticks, controllers, etc. Look for updated drivers for these peripherals to hopefully solve the issue. Until then, the only fix is to remove the plug from the computer when you want it to sleep or go to screensaver.

The only thing I can think of is my external hard drive (WD mybook). I am able to put it to sleep through the start button at least. Thanks.

if your computer doesn't sleep, you have a high priority active process running somewhere. windows 10 incorrectly assigns priority.

this is an issue with windows 10 and they're working a resolve, i think.

tl;dr go back to windows 7
