Counter-Strike: Source Server Rates

Hey guys,

Would anyone be able to help me with server rates?

I feel like I'm constantly off by milliseconds on the server. I could be aiming at a still standing target's head and still miss, or I get pinged off after I get around the corner away from the enemy. My server response time is seemingly not what it should be.

Can anyone help me out to reduce this? It's been years since I've had to do it, so I feel lost in trying to figure it out

Usually stays around the 70 range. Give or take 5.

cl_cmdrate 100
cl_updaterate 100
rate 100000

Servers will cap these three commands depending on the tickrate and speed of the server, you probably won't play a 200tick server and eGO is 66/67 so these are what you want to use


If you get any loss or choke when playing put
cl_interp_ratio 2
If you don't use
cl_interp_ratio 1

cl_interp 0 - Don't change this, should always be 0

cl_lagcompensation 1
cl_pred_optimize 2
cl_predict 1
cl_predictweapons 1

These are default settings but just incase they're not set to default for some
reason
Remember to add them all to your autoexec so they're active whenever you start the game, and don't expect a massive increase in performance or anything, the majority of registration issues you see in Source games is due to the outdated/awkward code, ping and 66/67 tick rates

should definitely put cmdrate and updaterate to 128, and rate to 128000. for servers that run 128 tick, but do not force a client to that tickrate. If you want the former 2 to remain at 128, you'll need an autoexec file.

As for GO....ehhh...I tried playing it for a while but I can't get into it! I found it too cluttered with weapons and hated the buy menu. I might try it again soon, but man, I'm gonna fail hard.

I've never played jailbreak before...I have no idea how it works! But from what I've heard, it's a laugh...so I may pop on in the next couple of nights. Just go easy on me, I'm a complete newbie in all aspects of GO!

Yep. Jail is fun just play T side for a bit to get a grip on how it's played(if you never played Jail mod before). And if you want to play casual like in CS:S we have the Warcraft mod

It's Casual mixed with powers. It's real fun. It's a good way to practice your aim and fun at the same time. If you need pointers and whatnot for GO add me on steam and I'll help you with the basics. CSGO at the beginning might be intimidating but once you get used with the graphics(that was my main problem when I started GO) it's way more fun than Source.
