Hey guys, I'm looking to get a new gaming laptop for x-mas that is around $1000.
I have no idea what a good gaming laptop looks like in terms of the hardware.

I have an Asus ROG it was about 1k.... I would get one with an SSD and at least a 2GB video card.

Check Amazon and other stores online for deals. I'm eyeing a Dell laptop with an older i7 CPU, 8 GB DDR3, 960M 2GB card, and 256GB SSD for about $750. Plan on doubling the ram for about $40 (8 GB stick) and debating if I want to put in another SSD, say a 480GB for about $130, or go with a 1TB HDD for storage for about $80.

cool thanks guys i think im going to get what 762mm_repr suggested

With the current budget, the ASUS ROG is the best choice in my opinion for a gaming laptop.

ASUS ROG laptops are really good, I would also recommend MSI company. They are also good. But the 960M gpu is really not so good for a laptop.
