I have a pretty fas internet connection speed (3.0 Megabits to be exact) and when i get into a large fighting zone or somewhere where there are alot of ppl i get around 10 fps....in the spawn i get abound 50-60....is there any way to fix this?does this happen to anyone else?if you want my sys specs tell me and i will get em to ya..

Please list your system Specs....
Video card, CPU, OS, RAM, also background programs.
What is your cl_updaterate and cl_cmdrate and rate set at?

i use net_graph 1 in game...sys is
P4 2.8GHZ
Video is ATI Radeon X1950 Pro 256mb apg
OS:XP Media Center Edition
2048MB of DDR ram
background programs are BOclean(malware program) Comodo anti virus...AVG anti virus...AntiVIR anti virus....and that is it...
not sure how to check the cl_updaterate and cl_cmdrate so any help with that will be great..
if you need anythink else just let me know ;)

load TF2 and press the ~ button on your keyboard. This will bring the console down. At this point, type cl_updaterate and cl_cmdrate.
What resolution are you running within the game?

Well, connection speed doesn't factor into client-side lag for the most part. Since you seem to be freezing up when there's a lot of fighting or a lot of people, I'd suggest the problem is with insuffecient hardware or resources. From the looks of your processor, it wouldn't be able to handle much more than TF2 at one time. I'd suggest closing all background processes, especially virus scanners as flippy said. Those are something you don't need while playing TF2, unless you've got someone with bad security habits on your home network, and even then, you might need to risk it for your gaming. =P

If killing your virus scanners doesn't fix it, hit Ctrl+Alt+Del and check the Processes tab. Sort by RAM usage, and check what's using a lot. If there's anything you can get by without, kill it. Then sort by CPU. Again, if something's using a lot of CPU and you can still play TF2 without it, kill it. If you're unsure, check google, or post what you find here.

Well Flippy....i have 3 anti virus systems because i download ALOT of things....everything i download seems to have a virus that only one of these 3 antivirus systems catch...as for the w/e it was in the consol i will be able to post it a little bit later when i get on...and no i dont download while i play.....i run this game at a resolution of 1024x768...i kinda doubt the processor has anything to do with it because i left the ctrl alt del on and let it run the cpu readings and it was just a little over 80% at max load...weird thing is that this doesnt always happen during large fights all the time...just doesnt make since to me...

There's definitely not anything AntiVIR won't catch that either AVG or Comodo will, as both of those rely solely on the OpenDirectory. As far as comparisons to other AV's go, AntiVIR ranks as the best along with Kaspersky and NOD32. Just make sure that you set up real-time protection properly, with the proper extensions and heuristics enabled and exemptions set for all of your games (other wise it will constantly rescan tf2, causing a huge performance hit). Also be sure to set up your ZIP client to use antivir properly via command line, though realtime protection should detect anything inside a zip or as you are downloading it. Besides that, download from trusted sources. If you use torrents, use reputable trackers, don't download 'extra' files inside the torrent, and definitely don't download a torrent containing 50-some RAR files.

well the avg program got compromised by a virus about 3 months ago and i just dont want anything to compromise the other 2 programs that is why i have em but for the downloading things i usually download direct download or from limewire P2P...and in the antivirus exeptions TF2 is listed

Well, the point is that while you're playing TF2, you shouldn't have anything else running that would require virus scanning, so you should disable the virus scanners. If you don't know how to restart them when you're done playing, just reboot your computer. It could probably use it anyway.

So, the point is, Sharp, that AV software assumes it's the only one running. They typically modify system files to run (Symantic is famous for that. In Windows 95/98, it used to modify the OS kernel, which caused LOTS of crahses). Addiitonally, AV software is constantly scanning memory and EVERY file access. With three programs, EVERY file interaction, memory swap, etc, is being monitored by three separate programs. It's a wonder you can get anything done at all.

well like i said before my processor isint used up to its full potential when i am playing the game and also today i turned my all of my AV off and i had the same thing...i know it isint video becuause i put everything on low and i had an even lower framerate? anyway so yeah...

When you turn your AV off, do you just exit the programs or go into the Services snap-in and disable all the reliant services?

Btw... how old is your current installation?

Incidentally, are you still getting these IRQ_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL errors while trying to troubleshoot all of this? I really think you might be heading for a format/reload of your computer. Nocturne asks a very valid question, as OS creep may have set in and rendered your OS very unstable.

well to make things worse my HD has been making alot of clicking noises lately and i believe it makes for HD failure and i completly shut down the AV...and the old installation thing what exactly do you mean?

A regular and rhythmic clicking during hard drive activity is most commonly caused by the screw holding the reading arm to the disks stripping itself. It's a short road from there to the drive simply not booting, backup anything important man.

well it has been doin this for about a month so how much longer do you think it has...i really dont have the money to go out and buy one rite now

well with what its been doing, idk how much time you have left, depending on how much you use it. I would just back anything up to a small HDD, you can find extremely cheap ones that work perfectly fine. just back it up as soon as possible. i had the same problems with it lagging in large combat zones, so i ran it in windowed mode, and it works fine so just do that and run pretty much low and see if that works (i have a crappy video card, ATI Radeon 9550/1050X series)
