Low TS mic volume, need some help.

So i'm having an issue with my mic volume. Have a practically brand new headset/mic in the G.Skill RIPJAWS SR190. The headset is amazing despite sacrificing a bit of comfort if i play for 4+ hours but I can't seem to get the mic to register my voice on an acceptable level without having it halfway down my throat. I've gone into the sound settings and maxed out my microphone volume at 100 and then I've also gone separately into my headset drivers and maxed out my mic volume at 100 as well. There is no mic boost option for an attempt to elevate my voice like on my previous pc. I've also gone into the TS settings and tinker with them as directed by several different online forums. At last, I attempted to follow a skype forum and update my drivers as suggested and still no change.

I have hit a road block as for what to attempt next and was hoping someone on here would have a trick or two up there sleeve.

1) How did it go with a Skype call? Did it work better? Worst? Same?
2) Have you tried it on a different computer and see if it works better with that?

Here's one idea you could try doing; go into your Recording Devices where it'll list the mic/headset, any virtual lines, and the sound card (if any). Try disabling the mic you're using, then re-enabling it and see if it kinds of kick starts it the right way. Sometimes I have a dead mic in TS using a webcam mic, and this is how I get it to work correctly.

It's possible you got a defective mic on the headset and it needs to be replaced.

Thanks Snipeye. I think I got it working now and it was essentially what you said. I disabled then re-enabled but didn't really have any luck. But it got me thinking so it was as simple as unplugging my headset and re-plugging it followed up by a restart for it all to kick in. Lots of wasted time for such a simple fix..

Glad you got it working. I got the same issues; running an older Logitech Webcam that goes in and out with the mic. Or it would change the sound to high pitch voices, which is ironic since I do an evil chipmunk laugh to scare those in the channel from time to time. Now I got Plantronics headset (which I rarely use) and a new Logitech C920 webcam so between the 3, I should be heard fine...
