Its not to bad, but its mostly just a Crysis 2 stock image with text on it. I will try and help you to be introduced more effectively into designing signatures. This is how I started designing. By no means am I saying your doing it the wrong way. Your intentions to design a signature of your own, is indeed the correct approach. Because where would we be if we didn't even attempt to try? Well we would never improve our own style of design. The first thing I started looking for was signature tutorials. I can post a few here so you can take a look at them.

Only problem is that I am using a really basic editor because I was just looking to make a custom sig that no one else had. Using gimp btw. I suppose I could get photoshop if it would really help that much

I think gimp has mostly same tools as photoshop. but yes photoshop is much better if you are going into advanced things. We all start somewhere and keep making more works and learning on the web you will improve.

ya, looks much better. Just one minor tip put your render as the top layer. It will help it stand out and blend better.

Yes better, The text is way too big, it is taking all the focus on the sig. try to make it smaller and less noticeable (not transparent).
The render should be the focus, try to throw some light on it and the background a little darker. keep practicing.

It looks great, and it's all up to personal preference on text size and such.
And just to clarify, the star with an e, eG, or eGO are all eGO official, and just show ranks per user, which means they can be used.

Im gonna be honest to help you.The red effect on the left is behind him AND infront, looks weird tbh.The right side is total black and empty, not appealing to the eye. Keep learning from tutorials. They helped me alot to learn how to make effects and how sigs work.
This pic might help you a bit, i made this years ago, take a look and you could try to copy this style if you want. good luck.

I'm making all of these in ~10 minutes. I personally really like the Assassin's creed one. I left the black space there on purpose for logos or anything I needed to include. Also, It being in front and behind him is hardly noticeable. But I came here for advice so yep, I guess I'll take it.

10 min? if you would take more time making them, they would improve only on that matter.

The more time you put into a design, the better the result. Like a cake, the more time you put into decorating it, the more enjoyable it is per bite.

I asked what text he wanted on it and... well... this was his response. Anyway, yeah
