Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Welcome the R8 Revolver to CS:GO

The armor pen wasn't changed, as it was the same as the deagle when they added it, even if the buy menu said differently. The same thing happened as when they had tried to reduce the armor pen on the m4a1s. It inherited the value from the m4a4 and ignored the change. So the r8 was always at ~93% armor pen.

rip dreams

against no armor, its a 1 hit stomach shot from close range, and against armor, its 99 in 1 point blank to the stomach.

I believe that Valve intentionally makes new weapons overpowered in order to encourage the community to play with the weapon so that everyone will use it and learn how to do so correctly. By the community using it often, it will also generate a general play style of the gun and how it should/shouldn't be used.

You know, there's a way that developers can test game-changing updates before releasing them for everyone.

It's called a beta.

TF2 does it (albeit only with gamemodes and maps, not with balance changes). Dota 2 does it. League of Legends does it. I swear, CS:GO is the only game with an established competitive scene I've played that does not have a beta testing branch that players can sign up for and test guns like the R8.

If this happened, we wouldn't have guns that were broken and ruined competitive play. Making new weapons OP is one thing. I remember the CZ, and I still think that the nerf it got was harsh, but the R8 is a disgrace. I think that a revolver can have a high risk/reward meta. I think it's neat to have a gun that isn't full auto or semi-auto, i.e. a mouse click doesn't immediately fire it. I don't think that that gun should be relentlessly OP from day one.

No matter how you spin it, a gun in a competitive FPS that can kill players in one shot with such accuracy should never have made it off the cutting room floor without rigorous testing by pros and beta testers. It should never have happened.

I completely agree that there should be a beta client. Like I said, I was just trying to see it from Valve's POV.

I got one-shotted with the R8 today in a cache match, the dude shot randomly at garage wall from whitebox and got me, just like if he was shooting an awp.

Valve is just stepping on the ridiculous with the nerfs, R8 got "nerfed", rifles its 50/50, and pistols just no.. Glock was useless already why make it even more useless?
