computer logon/shutdown crash!!! help!!

Okay so i wanted to change my boot up screen. the screen that says:
Justin
_________________ <- ? for the pasword. I tried to change that and it messed everthing up. When i try to shutdown i get an erroor message from windows that says LOGON UI or LOGON UIX blah blah blah.... send or dont send or debug.

Anything i press doesnt do anything. After about 2 mins of clicking it shutsdown. I restart it then i get a box that says LOGON UIX has failed blah blah blah Cancel to terminate program, OK to proceed.

I keep clicking OK and then another box pops up and under username it gives me:

Username: Justin
Password:

I enter the password then I log on.

Please help.
 
I can't really get what you mean... could you explain the problem a little more in-depth?

It might be worth check on all your Startup/Shutdown configs inside Group Policy (start --> Run --> 'gpedit.msc'), and specifically check for any scripts that are setup to run, which could be a sign of malware...
 
so when u tried to change your logon screen, what steps did you take to change it?

im trying to think if maybe something you did is giving the error or if the screen you wanted to change it to was corrupt, but i need some more details
 
like i installed Logon UIX then it gives me the program then instead of choosing a logo screen. Not even choosing the default (XP Logon).

I went into msconfig and tried normal startup but to do that you need to restart your pc and everytime i try to restart/shutdown or anything this Windows Error Messages pops up!!

Problem solved!! :)

I found a program called Logon UIX Recovery

Apparently Logon Studio is corrupt.
 
For future reference, there's a utility included with windows called the "system file checker" ...

Scans all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with correct Mi
crosoft versions.

SFC [/SCANNOW] [/SCANONCE] [/SCANBOOT] [/REVERT] [/PURGECACHE] [/CACHESIZE=x]


/SCANNOW        Scans all protected system files immediately.
/SCANONCE       Scans all protected system files once at the next boot.
/SCANBOOT       Scans all protected system files at every boot.
/REVERT         Return scan to default setting.
/PURGECACHE     Purges the file cache.
/CACHESIZE=x    Sets the file cache size.

So, if you run sfc.exe /scannow it will scan your system files and replace corrupt ones with the correct versions. This might undo other customizations, but will get your system back up and running.

lol, i changed my logon a while ago and dont even remember the steps i took to do it, i have vista on this laptop so its just a "toy"
