I'm a silver iv, and don't understand.
Just played my last match to get ranking.

The simple explanation is:
WIN = Gain ELO
LOSS = Lose ELO

When you reach certain amounts of ELO you either rank up, or derank.
Their is a lot more to it but thats the easy way to explain it.

Basic elo system

The bigger the difference in your win, the more elo you gain for example:
winning 16-2 will give you lets say 200 elo, while 16-14 will give you 20 elo.
The next is MVP's and bomb plants, defuses, the last is your Kill/Death ratio

Nobody knows how the ranking system works btw, valve has not released any information other than that it is similar to elo.

what causes derank?

Losing rounds loses elo, winning gains elo. If you have a net negative of elo to the point where you go past some threshold, your rank is lost.
