[poll] Medics, how many times does this happen to you?

well i give them a little boost....and then i go back to the original guy.

Sometimes, if a person is calling for medic, it might be because they want a medic to go with them into a firefight. So, depending on the situation, I'll go with a person or not. If I see that they're not doing anything to deserve the attention, then I'm moving on.

It depends. If I have no other injured around I may give them a boost. If they are a heavy or demo and are moving to the front lines then I'll stay with them. But if there are injured around then they get priority.

Sometimes I kinda feel like making a remark, but I havent done that so far. I really dont count the "medic!" call as a sign that the person needs healing. Since the beam doesnt need me to aim at the person I'm currently healing I look around all the time for red health bars. But sometimes It's annoying. I've had people burn to dead because I turn around looking for a guy that keeps pressing "e". So I'm against the pointless asking for heal. If you really really need heal it's ok, but it's really up to the medic if he'll boost you or not. I boost everyone if I can.

I'll heal them, but if someone with less health comes, I'm healing them.

I heal almost anyone I see, although will stay on someone who really needs it or is more vulnerable. A lot of people still don't realize that you can give someone a health booster (over normal health) with the medigun.

Although, I should mention I'll let someone die if they are repeatedly spamming the Medic! button. >=D

I generally try to heal as many as i can. If someone at full health asks for a medic, it irks me a wee bit, but i find people leaning on the medic button a bit more irkful. I'd rather have someone say medic can you bufff me so i can go in. Either way it really depends on the current situation, if all the other people around me are in good health, then ill give that person a boost. However if i have a bunch of people in the red and no dispenser built then they take very low priority.

if we are on our way to the front lines, i will buff the scout so he can be on his way, then i will just stick with the pyro or heavy or whoever im taking to the front lines.

I may bump their health a bit, but I do get annoyed and yell at them if it happens too often.

The worse is when you're in the middle of heavy combat healing players that need it, and somebody behind you calls med when they have full health -- turn around to heal them, and boom, the other players are dead, turn back around and boom -- you're dead... Happens about every 5 minutes on Warpath...

I've only recently started playing as Medic so I am still trying fine tuning the way I play.

I find this depends on the situation. If there is a big retreat from a pyro, I'll tend to put out anyone in flames first and then move on to look at who has been calling for medic.

When it come's to the situation where everyone is hanging back waiting to launch an offensive, I'll pick who I think is going to be the most effective with an uber. Generally you'll find most of the demo's, heavy's and soldiers will all be calling for medic in this situation. Obviously I can't run around after everyone. So I pick the player that has been most effective so far on offence.

If I am a few seconds away from the uber and we are about to launch an attack, I generally will ignore retreating players and concentrate on timing the attack. If the person I wanna uber is ready and I am off healing other people it could throw the timing off and make the attack a failure.

I think this very much depends on how you play as a Medic... Some stand back healing as people retreat, others like to head closer to the front line. Personally (even though it does me little good in the end) I like to follow closely behind the demo as he surges forward, dodging left and right. In that situation, its difficult to take on other healing targets as you are on a surging run forward. If you leave your guy who has been used to you behind him, its effectively a death sentence.

That said, if my guy is doing something stupid and I see someone else making a forward run, I will move to them.

It's important to have a little bit of selfishness as a medic. You're no good to anyone dead, so I will run away if I am about to die and I'm not close to an uber...

I'd actually like to say that on dustbowl I have had some great partners, seeing I am on my last legs they've made runs to a health pack for me to grab. I also really appreciate the passing medic healing me and I heal my guy.

As for the guys that constantly call medic over and over... Well they wont get any extra healing from me... If they are dying, sure you'll get a heal... but you will not get me partnering you in game. Especially if you yell over the mic "why isn't any ******* medics healing me"... In doing that you've already answered your own question.

Well said, kiniki. I agree: those near death or on fire take precedence. someone behind me spamming the medic call will almost always get ignored, unless they're near death. but even then... PLEASE don't spam the help! We heard you the first time!

Its totally situational
if i see someone running up from behind me heading to the front I don't feel bad about buffing but when I see someone hollering and just standing around in the back it gets a bit frustrating

Oh, and by the way, sometimes I'll take my fingers off of the WSAD keys to type something, then when I put them back, I accidentally call for a medic. So ... sorry 'bout that.

Ah, Flippy, the accidental call is perfectly fine, I do the same thing myself. I think what was being gotten at are those who are 100%, who just keep spamming the medic key. Almost as bad as those guys who bind "Need a dispenser here" to their movement keys...

I usually just buff anyone that comes my way but if they are in my face spamming me I starting healing them then when they rush out into the front line I STOP HEALING THEM MUAHAHAHAHAHAHA

This is a tough question because it depends on the situation. I try to heal everyone i can but it does irk me when someone is calling for a medic and i find that they are at full health and not even in the fight.

The people with the least health come first without question. Sometimes if an offensive class is calling for a medic but doesn't need it, he might actually want a medic to cover him as he goes out and fights. Sometimes it is a good idea to heal people even though they have full health because a medic can raise someone's health above their normal health. This is also very useful. Besides, as a medic, I want to heal as much as possible because I have to get that uber up.

Usually I try to stick to a Heavy or Soldier for pushing forward, but try not to let anyone get too badly injured. Although if it's right out of spawn, it depends. Sometimes I have nobody to go with and I'll just take the nearest person... other times I'll just give whoever is spamming medic a quick boost and go back to whoever I was on before I died.
