Hey guys,

In the past I have had no problems playing TF2 with my wifi usb adapter and usb plantronics gamercom pro1 headset. But starting sometime yesterday I noticed that if my headset is not plugged in, all the servers have great pings (< 50) and everything is as expected. But when I put in my headset and then load up TF2, the pings go up to like 300 and the game is now unplayable. What gives? The only thing I can think of is some possible usb conflict; any idea how I could get this fixed?

Not only is TF2 affected, but web pages load much much slower when the headset is plugged in.

If it helps, I am running Vista home premium.

Thanks

How many USB ports do you have in your system and is this the exact same arrangement that worked in the past? It's possible that your motherboard is splitting a single USB channel across two ports, some lower end boards will do this to expand 2 USB channels into 4 ports. If this is the case, it's like you've got both devices plugged into the same port and they aren't sharing well. Try moving the mic to a different plug.

Push comes to shove, a PCI USB card is a very cheap component and as long as you have the space for it is an easy solution.
