Announcement Match Fixing.

"Professional Counter-Strike is very important to us and to our community. The audience?s trust in the integrity of the sport has allowed it to grow to the point where it entertains millions of fans. To ensure that the highest level of competition continues to entertain, that integrity can never be called into question.
Back in January and early February 2015 we took action after we discovered that a small number of professional CS:GO players were engaged in match-fixing. Our decision was to ban these players indefinitely from involvement in Valve-sponsored events. To clarify, the bans for these players are permanent, and players proven to have taken part in match-fixing will be permanently banned.
As the scene grows, it?s an unfortunate reality that some individuals will seek opportunities to take advantage of their fans. We will continue to take whatever action we think is necessary to protect the entertainment value created by professional Counter-Strike, including, on occasion, terminating our relationship with individuals who have demonstrated a willingness to exploit their fans? faith in the integrity of the sport.
While bans can be disruptive and painful to some members of the community, they are sometimes necessary. We sincerely hope that we won?t have to issue more in the future."


Valves statement confirming that ex-iBP are to be perma banned. What are your thoughts on the matter?

This is not the correct move.

No rules in place. Orgs were NOT giving salary's at the time, so the only income from players were tournament winnings. Irrelevant game. 3rd party NON regulated site.

Steel, dazed, swag, and AZK have been helping the competitive counterstrike scene for years. Even before you could make a living on it. Steel and Dazed have been making guides and giving lessons since I can remember. Steel has payed for 5 fights to tournaments when there weren't orgs in css that could afford to to so.

All I'm saying is. Dont have an opinion on this situation without knowing all the facts.

1 year was enough. They spent the biggest year in counter-strike history on the sidelines.

Incorrect. Real sports rarely give out perma bans for matchfixing.

Very interesting, I wasn't completely aware of IBP not being paid. I do agree that they should be unbanned as this was the first time an investigation was carried out into a match being fixed. This year CS did blow up into something never seen before but I think the ban should be a bit longer, maybe two years but certainly not permanent.

I find it a huge shame not to see them play anymore as I just got into Competitive CS around the same time they were banned.

I think Rob is correct in everything that he said, Valve did overreact with this statement, proven ex-cheater are still playing, they got a 2nd chance but match-fixing to get some money when CSGO players didn't have a salary gets banned for life, I think its stupid. They all regret it but of course valve doesn't knows how to try and look at it from the players perspective.
