AMD CPU Upgrade questions

Hey guys, I'm looking to upgrade to the FX series Processors and I had a couple questions before I did. Let's get to it then
1. I'm looking to get either the FX-8320 or the FX-8350. Thoughts and opinions on these, and which one would be better?
2. I know the 83xx series are just all the 8320 with a higher factory overclock, so would it just be better to go with the 8320 and OC it myself, or stick with a higher factory clock rate?
3. Finally, what would you guys reccomend to use to OC these? I currently use MSI Afterburner for my gpu, and I wasn't sure if I should just use the OC Settings in the BIOS screen, or use a swore ate software to OC.

I have both and i don't see a nickels worth of difference between the 2
personally i would say buy the 8320 and save a few bucks and put
the money some where else like more memory or better video card
as far as over clocking use the settings in bios its a better way to go

Depends on what CPU you have now(Guessing the 6300?), your current cooling solution, and more impotently what motherboard you have now?

Difference between the two CPU's you have listed is really better binning with the 8350 and the factory overclock. You are more likely to get a higher overclock with the 8350 then the 8320 but it still comes down to the lottery.

You really don't want to cheap out on a motherboard when using a FX 83XX CPU.
 
For the MoBo, it's an MSI 970 Gaming, so I think I should be fine for that. And the cooler is the the Hyper TX3 (Minimal differences between that and the Hyper 212 Evo) I probably wasn't going to go too high of an over clock yet until I save up to get some liquid cooling going.
 
The 970 gaming is really going to limit you on an overclock. It's a 6-2 phase motherboard so you really can't push a lot of volts on your CPU. You might want to check out the 8320/50E series to help keep your VRM's cooled along with a top down CPU cooler like the a Vortex cpu cooler to keep those VRM's nice and cooled.

All in all I would hold out on an upgrade really. If you just have an upgrade itch I don't think it's worth upgrading right now unless you're investing in a new platform, but even then I would wait to see what AMD has to offer when Zen finally launches.
Tho if you feel like your system is not up to your standard for gaming then go for it, It's not too costly of an upgrade and it will improve your FPS. :P
 
Try and avoid the 8350 as I have a GTX 970 and am constantly bottlenecked, look into upgrading to Intel if possible :)

The reasoning behind the 970 is just a personal preference to using MSI boards. However if here are better options out there, I'd always be willing to try it, what would you reccomend for the FM3+ socket?

I wouldn't have as big as an issue with the 8350 as you do since I'm only running a 750 ti with an OC on it.

I've considered going to Intel, but those chips are really expensive for an i5, and I would be using a 4690k/4670k which alone is almost as much as an AMD Chip/MoBo. So if I were to go Intel, I may as well just get a whole new computer.

What games do you plan on playing/currently play? Most games only use a max of 4 cores so a lot of amd processors are inferior to Intel when it comes to pure gaming. I am upgrading to a 4690k from a fx 6300 once it goes on sale, due to it limiting my gaming experience. Also upgrading to a cpu of this calliber should keep you safe in that department for quite a long time.

Game wise, the most demanding game I currently play is either BF3 or ARK. I can run ARK on medium w/ around 30fps max, and run BF3 with 60+ all day. Oh, and this may help as well. I'm currently on the FM2 socket, running an Athlon X4 860k Black Edition, OC'd up to 4.0GHz

Wait I thought you said you had a 970 Gaming motherboard? That is a AM3+ board...

If this is kinda a fresh rebuild what is your budget?

I was planning on getting the 970 board, and had decided on it, but wanted opinions on which chip to get. And it's not a complete rebuild, just the chip and MoBo. My 750 ti is serving me well for my needs and don't plan on changing it out soon.

A tad over your price but if you hard set on the max then you can cheap out on the motherboard for a B85 series, but to me it is worth the extra price for a nicer more feature rich motherboard.

But if I was you I would save up just a bit more and go for this.

This is by far the best bang for the buck combo right now. Non k series Intel CPU are now overclockable(BCLK Overclocking) with certain motherboards it is well worth it to go for the 6400/6500 CPU's. A lot of overclockers have been hitting 4+ GHz with 212's on the i5 6400(20-30% BCLK OC's).

For less then a $100 more then your highest budget, I think it is more then worth it for what you get.
 
I had an AMD processor for 8 years. Once I changed to intel, it was the best decision of my life.
