portal problem

ok every time I launch portal, I get major lag even though tf2 and portal use the same graphics engine. I am using th BFG 8800gtx os2 edition If you need more info I can give it to you

whats the specs on ur system? thats 1 of the big things that people always need to point out once they post about any kinda computer issue (well most of the time anyways). but ya, post ur specs, then we can help u further.

i find that interestin since portal is an sp game, whereas tf2 is a mp game. did u try my tips (restarting steam as well as restarting ur machine)?

TF2 and Portal are going to have their own video settings so I would first check there. Maybe your graphic settings are too high in Portal.

ok but I can run them on my laptop with uses a nvidia 8600 with 256 mb of vram. I will try ok

hmmm i think with the 8800gtx it wouldnt be the graphic settings too high, so i dont think you would have to change that. I have never had the problem but what do you mean by lag, what exactly does it do?
