The use of the minimap

Alright folks, as this game has progressed I have noticed that a lot of teammates just run by an enemy that has been mowing down teammates or will run into the same mg that just sprayed down the whole street. Another is getting flanked on Kalt through wheel house...well I am here to tell you that you have the simplest and best tool in the game at your disposal to avoid these situations...The Minimap!

Using the minimap to locate where your teammate dies actually gives you a ton of information. Especially if you do not have a gaming headset or have to have a low volume in the house. Being able to process where your teammate dies on the minimap and which angles from the map an enemy could have killed them from is a huge asset. Practice it and learn it and it will help greatly.

For example ask Anni how many times I have watched him lay a path of destruction in the sewers of Kalt to have me waiting to shoot him in the back as he tries to make it to sniper house. Every time its following the skulls on the map.

I made a video to help show what exactly I mean however I am playing and talking and my concentration is all over lol but you will get the point. =D

Larks mini map hack is free and allowable on all eGO servers; I highly recommend!

The only reason I don't use the minimap in DoD:S is because of how bad the default config is. I'm not really a fan of altering the games configuration but I think that's just laziness.

Death messages + Minimap=Can't see anything

Stop being lazy then. You can make the minimap more translucent using the overview_alpha command. 1 is the default and 0 makes it invisible. You still see the flags and such but it removes all the world detail from the map. Just chose a value between those two to change the transparency.

This is a great tip. The map is a sure-fire way to know exactly where your friends die. I also see Immortal's perspective of the map content (opaque or not) blocking HUD space.

The method I use, is to track specific teammates by name, see where they go (be it to wheel, sewers, around the corner in front of me) and if they are killed, you see how quickly they were taken down and by what weapon.

As the man says, a lot of info provided in-game without any cheating.

I refuse. Using the mini map goes again my John Rambo school of Ramboing.

I only use it during realism. Dont get me wrong, I happen to agree with you, its a good way to track whats going on. For me, however, I have never been able to get used to taking my eyes off where any potential targets may be. The moment I look at the map to see where hidden enemies may be, I am shot by one right in front of me because I wasnt paying attention. If you can get used to glancing once in a while, go for it... Me? I will just turn up my headphones.

Also, if I am happening to be running by wheel, and I see PlayerX run IN to wheel, and then shortly after I see he is killed in the kill feed, thats a pretty strong hint that someone is just inside the door. Call it out, toss a nade, and continue on... thats how I roll :)

Jup indeed. That's the same thing i try to do on ava. Need somepractice on the rest tho ^^

I gave it a shot again with the map on. I have to say, for just playing on Avalanche or Kalt, it's a bit distracting to me. Definitely will put it to use during realism though. I really would like to find a more minimalist HUD setup though.

I definitely agree with Pred. People ask me how I know if someone is coming up behind me while I snipe top yellow on Avalanche. One I can hear the footsteps and two I can see the string of skulls from axis 2nd flag to bottom yellow on the minimap. Minimap is a great tool indeed.
