Just Added a 512 SSD

I just added a 512 SSD to my rig. And when I say "I," I mean Frank Booth talked me into it and he installed it and reinstalled windows 10.

I'm running windows, Origin and Steam with their games on a Samsung 850 pro 512.

Can I just say that this is the best thing since peanut butter! Everything is 10x faster. Seriously, this is a completely new experience.

Anyone not running an SSD is a complete and utter cave-person (think Artimus)!

I'm going to click on my mouse link below and order one for him...as soon as I can figure out how to hide that purchase from my wife.
 
Samsung SSD's are now so cheap and so fast, it's worth every penny and such an easy upgrade!

Is Western Digital done? All they have on Amazon is sata or at best a weird hybrid 256ssd with a 1tb sata drive attached. Same price as the Samsung pro 512

Samsung had the best prices, best quality, best bang for the buck. People couldn't really compete as well so they took over the market

It's the 2.5". I really wanted to get him a M.2 drive but he needs a whole new computer build for something like that.

I talked him into it not just because it is fast and good. But reliable and the 10 year 300TBW warranty helps too.

He has a fat pipe, 100 down, and with the SSD it is lighting fast. DOD:S started up in a blink.

Yea I have a 500GB Samsung as well, That Windows 10 boot time...and TF2 actually loads fast.
 
So jelly right now. At least my new laptop is running the same thing! Remember back in 2010 when SSDs were just coming out and now look at the prices on them! Hell, we're onto the next format with M.2 and those are ridiculously fast. Guess you should start planning the next build to include M.2, Frank.

Kingston isn't bad, it's just that price/performance Samsung has it pretty much nailed the sweet spot. Warranty, actual read/write speeds, and estimated lifespan; it feels like not many other manufacturers can beat Samsung at the moment when you factor all those things together and the pricing.

Overall whatever the configuration you get a ridiculous upgrade from the spinning hard drives.

I would not do an m2 without a skylake cpu. I think they would pair best.

The m2 is about one generation of motherboards away from being fully accessible. Some motherboards don't have the placement right for the size. So you can't fit it. And Samsung needs the optimize the software so it works best with Windows. Which should all be happening soon.
