2 players, one connection

Is there any reason why i cant connect to an ego server with more than one of my copies of team fortress. I have a router so the IP's should be differect. Its annoying that i bought a second copy the other day for my brother and when my freinds come round but for some reason it dosent like us connecting to the same server, it just crashes. Anyone know how i can fix this? or is it ego policy or steam policy?

Neither.

The router distributes DHCP ips within your network, but your external IP is the same. The second copy isn't on the same Steam Account I'm assuming, so I'd open up your launch options and change the connecting port for one of your copies.

I'd also make sure your router is forwarding the correct steam ports.

EDIT: A complete description of your network setup and firewall programs will help. What you are trying to do is absolutely possible as I have done it with my roomate. We play on eGO servers exclusively and have played in the same server everytime. This is definitely a netwok settings issue.

Ok well ill try and change the connecting port first, whats the command in the login settings to change it, and what would you suggest i put for the varible? (p.s, thanks for responding )

under tf2 launch options: -port NUMBER

I'd recommend 27016 for the second account and leave the first account at default(27015)
