Is there a way the eGO paypal could be setup to allow subscriptions? I would love to be able to sign up to give a certain amount each month automatically. If we did subscriptions, then folks could sign up for smaller amounts, say $5 or $10, which doesn't sound like a lot, but that would really add up over time if those donations occurred automatically every month.

I would actually support this, too. Also, on the donation (and subscription sign up, if that's added), there needs to be a comment box for your user name. Last time I donated there wasn't.

This is a great idea because I am really really good about signing up for things that have recurring payments and then completely forgetting about them. Whereas, I'm also really good about procrastinating so whenever I want to make a donation I either put it off or keep forgetting about it. eGO could be making a killing off me!

Not sure what the guys up top would think. I feel it might go both ways....

On the plus side, obviously it would be great for the clan, receiving regular donations.

However them setting up a regular payment almost takes away the the "Donation" part of it and then it becomes more like a business subscription.

I could be wrong, but if for example that payment took your bank account overdrawn and you ended up getting charged by your bank, there could be legal ramifications for EGO.

Someone could complain that EGO took money when you didn't have the funds available and then technically (from a UK legal standpoint at least.... I working in finance in my past) there could be legal claims against the clan.

However if you made manual payments each month, the problem of getting overdrawn is your own fault and EGO cannot be held responsible.

I'm not speaking on behalf of the clan, and the people at the top may disagree, but I think it's probably better you pay manually whenever you like. That way you are fully responsible for exactly when you make payments.

Signing up for the subscription gives Paypal and eGO legal right to take the money on the renewal date. The user creates the subscription themselves and is thus responsible for it until they cancel it, which they can do at any time.

I guess thats true...

That said, I am pretty sure there is the scope for someone to get angry if their payment takes them over their limit and they get charged. I'm not saying that eGO would be responsible in any way. But the wrong type of person is sure to cause a headache!

But if its a viable way for the clan to receive funds then maybe it'll work...
