Well, some of you might have noticed lately that Chrome has started issuing warnings stating that they're (come April) not supporting WinXP or Vista any longer. So yeah, it'll work still barring any massive screwups, but no more patches for bugs or security or...

So I'm now hunting for an inexpensive copy of Windows 7 64bit to replace this poor (and apparently ancient) copy of Vista Home Premium. While I myself don't have one, my mom does work for the school district and has a .edu email address for use with academic sites if anyone knows a good one, or just a regular place one can get a copy for less than the $120 I've been seeing lately.

And if you can, try avoiding Amazon. The ones I've found there have a good chunk of positive reviews, but a lot of negative ones too claiming they were given an invalid key or one that's already in use etc.

I have actually purchased a windows 7 ultimate key for 35 and have used it successfully to install and activate, and as well as to upgrade to windows 10. Let me know I can pass you the info to the site i used.

I had an issue with reinstall, changed the CPU and Mobo - this was actually JohnT's system - and the key did not work anymore as it may be EOM. An email and they sent me a new one. Plan on using it on that one system.

Yeah, I've had experience with OEM versions of Windows before. Bit of a pain but I can typically get through their call center quickly and get an activation code.
