I came home last night to a dead computer. I haven't finished with my troubleshooting, but pretty sure it is a dead motherboard. I could play on my laptop (didn't cost anything - PayPal gave it to me) but I may just take the time to do some stuff IRL, like finish the basement.

See you all online when I finally break and play on the laptop, or get my desktop running again.

It's not that dramatic. I found a motherboard locally on CL for $40. I was only thinking it would be few days max, waiting for something to get here from Amazon, at the worst.

Even in a city the size of Omaha, there is no place to buy a new MB, at least no any longer. No money in it. Amazon, NewEgg and free 2 day shipping has put them all out of business.

If I still lived in San Jose, I would have been back up and running last night.

It was 44 hours, and I was expecting to be down until tomorrow night!

I use my computer for a lot more than gaming. I have to get bills paid, balance the checkbook and funnyjunk isn't going to read itself.

I haven't lived in San Jose since the 70's. I wouldn't live there for all the nickels in Jupiter.

But yes, buying a MoBo there would be easy-peasy. The last Comp Useless closed down here in Tampa about six months ago. Now everything is shipped in.
