So im having a problem im running MSI 970 gaming with FX 8350. I keep getting random restarts and getting the following in the event viewer.. This is fresh windows NEW PARTS new SSD & HHD. New GPU. NEW CPU....

The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.

Any Help? oh and its mainly doing this during games..

Considering it's mostly during games, have you installed all the latest drivers and made sure everything is up to date? Just as somewhere to start.

After some research, a few other users seem to have a similar issue with no definite answer yet. Here are a few options suggested in addition to drivers.

1. Check all connections from your PSU, make sure the wires aren't damaged. A few people have pointed to a damaged, old, or PSU that was not capable of the new hardware it got.
2. Go into your BIOS and return all settings to their defaults.

It seems to be doing it now just surfing the web xD.. All drivers seem to be up to date and the PSU is new and didnt see any wires damaged

Try returning the BIOS to factory settings after that. How are all your temps - do they seem normal when you check it in the BIOS?

wouldn't hurt to make sure the bios are up to date also.

Updated bios no help. Temps are good cpu is 30-45 max under load. Gpu 45 max. I'm thinking bad ram? Sometimes it's a freze sometimes it just restart.

I would still re-seat the CPU. If that doesn't work you could try memtest. If that doesn't work try re-seating GPU and using manufacturer's recommended drivers. If that doesn't work check voltages in BIOS. If that doesn't work re-seat everything.

Oh yeah I should mention if you suspect it's a RAM problem if the memtest does not show any problems you should still pull out one of the sticks of ram(assuming you have 2 sticks) and run the PC for awhile. If it still crashes put that stick in and pull the other stick.
