Want to buy a new gaming computer

I've been looking to buy a new gaming computer. I currently game on a Mac, which isn't really the best for things that I plan to use it for. Simply trying to run the tutorial for TF2 takes forever. I'm looking for a good, cheap gaming computer under $1000. Any suggestions? (not building it myself, just buying)

GPU is not the best but you could always upgrade it along with the PSU to something better down the line. It will get the job done tho in most games at mid/high settings.

Not too experienced with that kind of thing, but I could definitely give it a try

1) Do you prefer a desktop or laptop?
2) Building it yourself is always cheaper. You pay a small premium to buy it pre-built, but the benefit is the frustration (or fun depending on your point of view) and time is saved for you. If you're interested, I'd recommed checking out a Maximum PC or PC Gamer magazine, as they routinely give instructions on how to do your own build (just stop in a Barnes and Noble and sit in the cafe, reading it over). If you're still unsure, find a friend who has built one before and offer to buy them pizza or something similar for their help. A building session turns into a small LAN party later...

I just recently had to rebuild my computer for the first time, and honestly it wasn't as hard as it sounds. It took me a few tries to get everything right but it's a great experience.

Side question: AMD or Intel?

The hardest part is putting on that silly I/O backplate and putting the pins for power and reset buttons into their respective places, and that's not even hard, just annoying if you are working with a mini atx case and mobo. Building will be a lot easier than you think.

Also, check out some videos on youtube. It really is not as hard as you'd probably imagine to build a computer.. after all the parts are designed only to fit in the correct slots.
