If I'm going to get to know the community, and if it's going to get to know me, then I have to share the philosopher inside of me. When I mention philosophy, the top question is always the meaning of life. But what is the meaning of life?

When most people ask this, what they are truly asking for is a purpose in their own life, which can only be achieved in a personal journey. No, the actual meaning of life is something much darker. Simply put, the meaning of life is to live. "No, really?" you say. "Thanks, Sherlock," you say. It is obvious, but it's also true, but it makes sense only with elaboration.

Look at nature. Even the branches of a tree compete for survival. To live, a species must be forced to adapt. The grass eats the sunshine, the zebra eats the grass, and the lion eats the zebra. All of these creatures have developed certain traits that allow them to survive, to exist, to continue the species. They can run another species extinct, and any groups of life must fight to stay in a niche. The meaning of it all is to live, to preserve the species.

Here, mankind has separated themselves from nature, separated themselves from life and its meaning. Now, we wonder. We ask for that which is missing in domestic society. Here, where we are, the meaning of life is whatever one makes it. However, society puts a lot of pressure on success, so perhaps that is what we've forced it to become.

So, my question to you guys is this: What do you think the meaning of life is for us?

Hey, I take biology as well! ;P

I think the way you view the meaning of life probably depends on your beliefs, and in saying that I think it could be a bit of a touchy thing to talk about.

In my personal opinion, it's to be able to conquer and become the strongest species on the planet! Which we've kinda done already... maybe we it's time we expand into the universe next? :)
