What does society tell me to be?
To be tall, to be smart, to be pretty?
Does the media set an example?
If this is so, why should I stoop so low?
Why can't I be me?

Instead, I'm to stalk the celebrities;
Am I to regard them as deities,
To rather look at them than judge myself?
Why can't I be me?

Should we all wear makeup and be as clowns?
Forcing a smile with nary a frown?
Why can't I be me?

Called disheveled for being a rebel,
I choose to be me.

I decided to make fun of the media here. On another note, though, why is there not a prefix for literature?

There probably isn't a literature section because writing is few and far in between on here. The Art section itself isn't quite as bumpin' as it used to be either but suffice to say, we could probably lump literature under art.

Mainly because those of us that partake in creative writing as a hobby tend to flock towards dedicated collaborative fiction sites. Why post something of yours in a gaming community where I can go to Protagonize and not have to worry about someone being able to steal my work. eGO is many things, but a copyright-protected place to post ideas it is not.

Plus it's easier to track views, shares, and traffic in general.

Even if you're not a professional artist, you might want to see your work protected. I'm no longer a graphical artist, and everything I do is way below par, but I'd still like it if people didn't take my images and claim them as their own. I see where you're coming from, but surely there's something in your life you'd rather not have people steal, even though it's not that great? I feel like my images, as with other forms of art, are great in my eyes, even though it might be my eyes only.

But that's just what I, and I imagine other people, feel about being proud of something they made. You're certainly right about the copy-protection and sharing angle.

See, the copyright would only matter if I actually cared about the thing I wrote. If I'm writing for fun, chances are that I won't.
